Every year, thousands of students flock the fields on campus at the University of Colorado. They come from all around the state, brownies and picnic blankets in hand, with two goals in mind: hanging out with friends and smoking marijuana. In past years, the notorious event has gained national media attention.

Has the new location and commercialized nature of 420 turned over a new leaf? Or has the counter culture rally gone up in smoke?

  • for any real change to take place the corporations have to see the profit. it may seem your cause is dead when this happens but it seems to me it means it is close to realization.
    congrats stoner.

  • It's funny to see some of the responses to this video. I'm actually not a stoner, and I've never actually smoked marijuana. Because of this, I personally do not have a lot of say whether pot smoking is safer than alcohol or not. The reason why we made this documentary is not because we are for or against legalizing pot, but because we wanted to capture the event as it is with everyone else's opinion. Apparently, it's a big deal to a lot of people. We wanted to know why.

  • i happily retract the stoner comment i was perhaps a bit to flippant and having fun with it. no offense intended.
as to why it would be a big deal i could perhaps help a bit there though. people are imprisoned and property seized if they live in the wrong state at the wrong time or if they run afoul of the fed. for possession of a plant. and charged with a crime when there is no victim. this is viewed by many (myself included) as being constitutionally illegal. events like this even though they seems a "stoner party" are really (at the organizational level) acts of civil disobedience and protest designed to draw public attention to the unjust drug laws in our country. many people (myself included) have loved ones that have been incarcerated and abused by our drug laws. so you can easily see why this would be a "big deal." to some.

  • the fact that marijuana is continually the biggest cash crop in America should be incentive enough for the corporations. this was a good pod, well thought out. nice work. Happy 420!
