Whether it is under the influence of a cocktail or nothing at all, a "player" can attract a woman beyond their looks alone and entice her romantic fantasies (whatever they may be.)
A player is not a man that is waiting for marrige to have sex. The ultimate goal for a player is to seduce and then engage in sexual activity. I'm not saying this in any derogatory sense either, women are promiscuous as well.
A player will also move from one woman to the next, even see multiple women at the same time.
I don't like the "players" that lie to women, and put them on an emotional trip that ends up breaking their heart. Now that's not to say the player should be honest about everything he's doing, that would make him a terrible player, he'd have to be famous, or look like brad pitt to pull that off. A guy shouldn't tell a girl that he is seeing other people, but if he is going to see other women then he shouldn't really be in any serious relationship where he is saying "i love you" to a girl.
God I need to get back to school, and start socializing. That was far too long of a response.
