Egypt To Adopt Monumental Copyright Law

Bad news if you were planning to erect an exact replica of the sphinx in your back garden. Egypt is going to pass a law requiring payment of royalties for reproductions of its ancient monuments. "The new law will completely prohibit the duplication of historic Egyptian monuments which the Supreme Council of Antiquities considers 100-percent copies," he said.
This could deliver a big blow on themed resorts like Las Vegas. But the law doesn't forbid artists from drawing inspiration from the pyramids and other monuments, as long as they don't make exact copies.
That's good. I think it would be hard to copyright a geometric shape.
