In only 57 Seconds, Congress was able to prevent unapproved appointments by President Bush. Rather than close down Congress during Christmas, Democrats quickly banged their gavel, using a constitutional strategy to prevent unapproved executive appointments during a recess. Bush tends to use these periods to appoint his most controversial officials, but the Democrats were not prepared to allow him to do that this time. Merry Christmas World!

  • id sure like to see more defense of our wishes from our representatives like this. i agree it is certainly about time they got off their laurels and drew a line. now lets end this war and start the impeachments.

  • Senator Feinstein defended her vote FOR Head of the Dept. of Justice Mucasey because she feared the "out of session" presidential appointment of someone much worse....57 seconds took care of that defense!
