Cops Use Topless Woman To Lure Men in Police Sting

Image...
Robin Garrison, an off-duty 42-year-old firefighter, was walking in Berliner Park in Columbus, Ohio, in May when he saw a woman sunbathing topless under a tree.

He approached her and they started talking and getting comfortable, the woman smiling and resting her foot on his shoulder at one point.

Eventually, she asked to see Garrison's penis; he unzipped his pants and complied.

Seconds later, undercover police officers pulled up in a van and arrested Garrison.

Is this entrapment or is this man a pervert who has been thankfully removed from the streets? What does this say about our culture and its views on sex? And why do some people feel the need to masturbate in public parks?! Jeez....

Sounds like entrapment to me. And he wasn't masturbating, nor was that why he was arrested. It's one thing to flash someone unsolicited, it's another when the other person is actually asking for it.

The article also said that the guy had seen her sunbathing there a lot; it sounds like he was interested and had finally gotten the nerve up to approach her.

I mean, the guy should have known better than to unzip in public, but I feel bad for him.

The article says, "The sunbathing woman is not affiliated with the police department and she was not asked to take part in the sting operation, according to a spokesperson for the department." So, the cops weren't exactly "using" the woman to lure men. Still lame to go after someone for a victimless "crime"... The other examples in the article, like leaving IPODs laying around, are undoubtedly entrapment and just plain ludicrous.

I think it's shady that they are attempting to get men to illegally expose themselves by using an exposed woman. It calls attemtion to the complexity of making rules dealing with public exposure that do not enact a gender double-standard. I am a woman and by no means am saying that women should not be allowed to go topless, I just think that the fact that the police are using this "right" to enforce indecent exposure laws seems slightly contradictory.
