On a basic human level, every man, woman and child should be entitled to the same basic human rights, regardless of sexual orientation. We're all human after all, aren't we?

  • Politicians KNOW how to stir up the fundies, don't they?

    Fundies and leaders of their flocks will always NEED someone or something to evoke fear and dread. Hate is borne of fear and they have used it for centuries to further certain religious goals. We're only a few of centuries removed from burning people at the stake and using dunking stools.

    Fundamentalist leaders realize it is so much easier to finance a fight when their beliefs are threatened.

    That is why there is always an enemy to unite against. In recent years they have marshaled their forces for huge fights over Gays, Lesbians, Evolution, Muslims, Casinos, School Prayer, Terri Schaivo, Abortion, the so-called "War on Christmas" and dozens of other threats that will help them build and hold onto their flock and the contributions that brings.

    It is calculated to elicit a knee-jerk reaction - example - If I told you there was a sale on sodas at the local supermarket and that sodas were 3 for 1, you might not jump up and run to the car to go to the store BUT if I told you there was someone taking a couple of cases of sodas out of your car in the driveway, you'd investigate immediately. It is that territorial urge they appeal to. People react to that sort of appeal.

    In this case, it is homosexuals who are threatening their perceived values and there are those who realize that nothing causes people to turn out like a good, old-fashioned threat to God and Country.

    We saw how Tom Delay and Dr. James Dobson used the evils of gambling to spark a fight over casinos that saw Abramoff and Delay making money on both ends of the see saw and Dobson using Abramoff-donated money to send religious mailers to prospective anti-gambling supporters and donors.

    It is ALWAYS about the money because if it weren't the Dobsons and Robertsons would be marching to get rid of the Mark Foley's and Larry Craig's but there is no money in that. It is ALWAYS about the money and the power.

  • All man are created equal is like saying that all animals are created equal. I don't thing lions and dogs agree.

    People are free to do what ever they want without any disrespect to your fellow humans. Gays are happy people, why rain on their parade. Should they have any special rights? Negative, love has a price.

  • Dontipo, my point is that gay people should have the same rights as straight people. They are created equal in that they are both human. Human, not different species of mammals.

    Sorry, but to me the comparison of lions and dogs held up against the comparison of straight people and gay people doesn't hold up. You missed the point.

  • I find it funny that close-minded people like to highlight parts of our Declaration of Independence while simultaneously disregarding parts of the like "All Men are Created Equal". Countries that are highly evolved have already moved far beyond this issue. Do you ever hear Sweden having sexual discrimination issues? It doesn't happen, because they realize that fundamental human rights and laws are for EVERYONE.

  • I respect your point of view but would you tell a kid thats nine years old whose mind is not developed yet that its okay to be gay, theres nothing wrong with it.. People have the right to love whoever they wanna love I love my homeboy but I dont wanna stick my dick in his ass what Im trying to say grown folks should be careful what they reflect back on radio and tv because the youth is listening.

    I think you actually make the opposite point by what you're saying,

    Who "TAUGHT" you not to stick your d*ck in your homeboy's a$$?

    The answer is NO ONE did!

    You didn't have to be taught. You didn't do it because it wasn't something you wanted to do and, in fact, it never occurred to me as a kid just like it probably never occurred to you.

    Studies show that even the children of gay or lesbian couples have no greater chance of becoming gay or lesbian than the general population - so, in effect, it isn't truly an influence thing. You either have those feeligns or you don't.

    Of course, there is always the choice that can be made to ignore your sexual orientation but there you'll find the sad cases of seriously-troubled individuals like politician Larry Craig or preacher Ted Haggard.

    People simply don't CHOOSE to find sexual attraction in one sex or the other! They are BORN with that wiring. Incidentally, there IS such a thing as Bi-Sexual, too, and those person COULD make a choice but in those cases the latent attraction is already there.

    By the way, since you are preaching about the influence of gays and lesbians on straight children, why not also understand that your choice to use certain words ALSO fails to respect who is viewing this website and their respective ages and the words they read witnin in your post.
