15 year-old David will star in this year's town fete... as the gala queen. David's delighted, but what about the locals?

This is a very heartfelt piece about the story of a real, honest, sweet person. I am incredibly impressed with his bravery and he should be commended for it. That bravery should be seen and simulated through out the gay community...small steps lead to bigger steps and then leaps towards equality in the world and acceptance of LGBT people.

Good on David! Sexual orientation is not the product of choice, it is hard-wired in individuals. I am happy to see that more and more people are beginning to understand this, and that acceptance is growing.

His story is incredibly touching and honest. I hope he sees how the small battles can lead to big advances. Cheers to him for standing up for something he knows is right. To be who you are- it's just right.

David, you rock SO hard. Well done for your honesty. Keep on learning about yourself - it's a big world out there and so many of the people who can't deal with you will never experience that wider world. I live in Brighton - you would just flourish here! Come and visit soon!

I loved David's story, he s extremely brave to be 15, at that age I had nothing to worry about, what an example.
The shots were very nice as well, the close ups gave us a lot from David and how he feels. It was tightly edited but yet it had beautiful silent moments of just him reflecting.
    Great Piece!!!

Sad that his end comment was a bit of a snub to the T part of the end of the LGBT spectrum, many of whom to get surgery still have to be diagnosed with a condition regarded by the psychiatric establishment as a mental illness. The World Health Organisation declassified homosexuality as an illness in 1993 yet transsexualism is still in the DSM-IV as an illness. His feelings seemed to be well 'I'm gay but I hope I don't get seen as a woman'-a shame in what was an uplifting item about a brave young man.
