  • The Daily Kos.......................
"The corporate media blackout of John Edwards continues, and it's getting worse.
John Edwards is being excluded because he is talking about something that makes the corporate media truly uncomfortable: the growing concentration of power and wealth in the corporate elite.
If you think that corporate greed and corporate power are at the heart of America's problems, however, there's really only one choice: John Edwards." So very true!
  • Marilynn is absolutely right. The last thing the media wants is an election in which one of the candidates is actually talking about the consolidation of power in the hands of the wealthy elites who also happen to own the media. On the other hand, although I do believe that corporate greed is at the root of most of America's problems, I can't truly believe that John Edwards, even if he became the president, would really be able to do anything about it.

But I'd sure as hell rather have Edwards as president than Clinton or Romney and it pisses me off that the media has been trying to write him off since this election began...about 12 years ago now, right?

  • Kemstone, I think he can undo some of the things that allow them to offshore and then bring the stuff we used to make back in duty free. He can stop American companies from paying no taxes yet using our infrastructure and protection. He can get rid of or fix NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT. Our jobs would stop going overseas. They don't want him because he isn't for sale.
  • Those are good points, and I'm sure things would slightly improve if Edwards became president. I'm just so pessimistic about the current situation in the world and how those with power have got the system by the balls and are choking this planet to death that I don't really think that any president--not even Jesus Christ himself--could actually curtail the catastrophic collapse that looms just around the corner.

  • That may be true, I want the one that cares enough about the little people to soften the blow. I want the one that is smart enough to help us dig out. I want a President that loves this country and isn't in it for the money. I firmly believe that man is John Edwards.
  • edwards is still in the big 3 for the democrats. he's not getting as much press as obama or hillary because he's 1-not black, 2-not female, 3-has raised far less money than either of them. edwards is just a normal white guy shooting for the white house (again) and he's not taking any money from lobbyists to finance his campaign. he says constantly that hillary has all her funding because she's taking money from wherever she can get it, most of it from dirty places that will have sway over her if she wins. i too would much rather have edwards than these other two. dennis kucinich is the guy i like the most, and he doesnt have a chance in hell because he doesnt have the money to have a chance. because media coverage is such a factor in elections, i dont think that anyone who refuses to sink to a slimy level and take dirty money has a chance. meaning at the end of it all, the president with be the person who raised the most money and got the most attention, meaning their presidency is mostly going to be spent working for the interests of the people who got them there instead of the good of the country.

if someone like edwards did by some miracle win the whole thing, even with the best intentions he probably wouldnt be able to get much accomplished because he didnt make those powerful connections with the real people in charge of the country (the people with the money) during the elections. so he'd be in office, meaning well, but powerless, then everyone would think he was a lying bastard for not following through on anything he said in the elections. edwards can mean well, but his logic is faulty if he thinks that he can make a change in a system that is set up, from top to bottom, to prevent change. and anyone who tries to undermine that system and restore power to the people just gets killed and taken out of the equation.

this is why i dont vote.
