New Assignment: T-Mobile Sidekick

Hi VCAM-ers,

I'd like to announce the launch of our latest VCAM assignment for the T-Mobile's Sidekick. Check out the brief @ http://www.current.com/tmobilesidekick, get those creative juices running, make us proud and get paid!

It's VCAM-alicious.

EDIT (1/28/08): If you are having problems seeing the brief, please make sure that you're on the US version of Current.com and not the UK & Ireland version. If you are unsure, look at the flag icon at the upper right hand corner. If you don't see the stars and stripes, roll your mouse over the UK/Ireland flags and choose "US."

I hope this does not discourage producers in the UK and Ireland from participating in the VCAM program. We welcome all producers (except those who are living in the US with a student visa or those who are not legally able to work in the States... if that's the case, contact me).

  • are there any limitations to people, numbers, or other things that can be viewed in a video without ramifications? I guess what I mean is how do we know what or who has to be blurred or edited out of a video?

    Yes, there are limitations. If you do not have an appearance release for someone in your video, you will have to blur out/edit out their faces.

    My recommendation is to bring appearance releases with you when you start filming your VCAM. If they're under 18, you have to have their parents sign it. I think that is it. Let me know if you have any mo' questions!

  • All right, about the whole "appearance release" thing, I'm not all too hip on this legal mumbo jumbo. Can we make our own one of these, or is there a specific one we can download/that we need?

    Good question! Working in VCAMs, I'm up to my neck with legal documents. As much as I hate 'em, they do make the world go round.

    Also, bring Location Releases if you shoot your VCAM on someone else's property!

  • i can't unzip the sidekick_endtag clip. i've tried it on my mac and pc.. anyone else having this problem? any solutions? thanks!

  • In order to really produce a pertinent ad, wouldn't it require that one necessarily OWN or have on hand (for filming) a Sidekick?

    No not at all!! Check out some of the submissions for XM Radio campaign. There were tons of great submissions and most of them didn't have an XM Radio device.

    The terms state "Use the T-Mobile Sidekick or Sidekick LX logo & Sidekick animation". I understand using the animation, but using the logo is really odd. Am I misunderstanding the terms?

    If it makes sense to not use the logo, then I wouldn't use it. If you think that your ad can be more effective without use of the logo, then by all means, do not use the logo.

    Should your ad get picked and T-Mobile needs you to use the logo, then we can work something out.

    But absolutely use the animation! That, for sure, is required.

  • I am not having problems downloading the files for the T-Mobile ad. Problem is unzipping the files.. The video files work fine, but the logo downloads cannot be unzipped.. Please help, I would like to try and enter this t-mobile ad. Thanks..

  • That is a good question,I wonder why they don't have the Picked for TV category anymore? I guess they replaced it with the New & Announcement topic since I found posts when they picked someof the other VCAM's
