That was interesting. The Free-Stater piece was odd. Those people never really explained how our government was "oppresing" them or taking away their "liberty." They just kept repeating it over and over without any specifics about how exactly living in the US was becoming unberable. What I found even odder was the idea that they were going to "escape" our tyrannical government by simply moving to a different state in the US? Sorry, but that idea made me laugh out loud a little. I can just picture them now ranting about how our government was ruining their lives and that they were going to fix it all by....moving to a different state still WITHIN the US? Huh? Watch out Monty Python. We got some new comedians coming up.

I haven't finished watching the entire piece yet but I just had to comment that I LOVE the shooting and editing style of the introductory section. (Like everything up to 2:30) It seems like a breath of fresh air compared to the setups of most other pods I see.
Great job! I'm excited to watch the rest of the NH coverage now.

I'm a 63-year-old "hippie" and have had Current on all evening. eschewing CNN, et al, for some real coverage. I can't begin to express how delightful your reporting is to me. I am a court reporter in Washington, D.C., and am pretty jaded. Current is the NEW FRONTIER.
Thank you!

Right now in California, our schools are being devastated by government cutting the school funds. The teacher's insurance benefits are being cut along with many other important programs at our schools. The arts are now on the shelf. Forget trying to be the leading power, fix up New Orleans and every other troubled area in this country. Also, the poor and homeless. Let's get real, stop the war and fix up our own country. As for the Mexican problem, who else will pick our fruits and vegetables and clean house for minimum wage. one love, hoy

my favorite comment in the whole story was very profound...
"to optimize the potential of it's citizens".I believe that substantial corporate reforms need to be enforced. If you are selling the products here...then "most" should be made here! Very simple! We allow them to get away with slave wages in other countries alongside human rights violations so we can have nice shiny things to fill our landfills with. None of the money goes back into our system because of ridiculous tax breaks. We raised hell about slave wages and environmental disasters around here enough...they all decided to go somewhere it was easier to grease over the people with the power money can afford. To continue to allow them their militaristic global gallivanting is criminal in itself.
Simple equation for the math heads....
increase exports....decrease imports...is that a hard one to figure out in the name of "competitiveness"?
Which brings me to the term "Super Power"...
this label was only originally given to countries with the biggest military capabilities. As if that is something we should be proud to associate with how "super" we are. How bout being considered "super" for the actual intelligence levels and true humanity of the citizens we produce?
People can make the argument..well consider the "global humanitarian relief operations" we carry on all over the world in the name of being "super". Which I would simply point out that we don't even care about the impoverished of our own neighbors like mexico...why should we be nation building on the other side of the world when our own state of affairs is also such a shambles.
I believe that the role of government should be minimal, however, I firmly believe that they should be doing their best to re-enforce the basic rights and "optimize the potential of it's citizens" which they have not been concerned with doing for many years.
