French President Nicolas Sarkozy seemed pleased that the press had picked up on the seriousness of his relationship with French model/singer Carla Bruni when he was asked about a wedding date. He didn't divulge those details, saying the press would likely learn about it after it happened. However, he praised himself that the press felt able to ask such a question of him, trumpeting an openness and honesty he said has been previously lacking in French politics.

Unfortunately for Sarkozy, his poll numbers have plummeted with his dating of Bruni, mostly because the French public is annoyed seeing him on vaca with his lady rather than handling challenging issues on the home-front.
