Warner Bros. may cut 1,000 jobs

As many as 1,000 employees on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank could be laid off as a result of the writers strike, after Friday.

Apparently Warner Bros. distributed "legally mandated warning notices on November 12," 5 days after the WGA walkout began. The notices said that the "recipients could be subject to layoff after 60 days."

This strike is getting crazy. Should layoffs be a factor in the decision as to when, and on what conditions the strike should end?

  • I am officially dumping all my WB movies.

    Who else is with me!?
  • I think that all networks should start laying people off... This strike is just getting to be rediculous... Both sides need to give and well the networks are loosing lots of money and ratings... The writers are only loosing money at this point... So yeah fire them... Maybe boths sides will come to the table quicker...
  • americansoldier I would just like to say THANK YOU. You have confirmed my belief that there are still stupid people in this world and walking among us. How can any person hope that a family will loose their home, their cars and even have to send their children to live with other family memebers since unemployment does not even pay enough to rent a 1 bedroom apartment in CA.

  • I am a first time screenwriter attempting to sell my first script and join the union. One week before the strike started I pitched my script to several production company reps and had some serious leads, however, the strike stalled everything. I'm not upset or discouraged. And I support the union writers. Of all the creative people, writers get the least pay. On the subject of the specific revenues in dispute, it's obvious to me that writers should get payed on all revenue steams. It's just good and fair business. Everyone gets of peice of it. And ... if the film is profitable, than what's the problem anyway. Everyone gets a peice of it.
