If you read the article, this is one district, no mention of skewing any other votes for either party besides that Paul got 31 votes not zero. One miscount can't represent the entire state. If other districts start to come forward, then there maybe a problem...

We do have a problem, even if it is one district. How can we go around the world claiming democracy is the answer when we can't get it right ourselves. Consider my outrage expressed!
-
There is no mention of other districts skewing results because they haven't been caught yet. Did these other districts have Diebold voting machines? Did people have their votes tossed out afterwards because they forgot to bring a Photo ID? Who really knows what the exact vote tallying procedures were and if any votes were spoiled or miscounted or just tossed in the trash as they were in 2004? And we can't rely on our news media to actually video tape the whole process. God forbid they do anything but report on John Edwards haricut or Hillary's crying. I'm very skeptical of voting ever since 2004. I mean, those guys were literally tossing huge bundles of votes in the trash can and got away with it. Oops. Were we not supposed to do that? Oh well, too late now. Who is watching the watchmen?

this is horseshit! first fox news, then the voting results themselves! wake up America, freedom has been stolen from under our noses!

We should go back to the old way of One Company Equals One Vote. I mean, isn't that basically the system we have now? I don't know why they even let us vote. IBM and Haliburton have the final say no matter what we think. Can't you just picture the CEO's on election day? "Awww. Isn't that cute? The little people are pretending to have a say! Quick and get the camera!"
-
This is just a pure outrage. None of the mainstream media has any mention of this either. Which really bothers me because if it happened in new hampsher it will continue to happen in other states. This election scares the hell out of me.

Me Too!!! That is why I video taped my vote. See here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK3wJmNPQn8 and also here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYnONcGvBrw

I wish we didn't have "secret" ballots because now there's no way to catch the people throwing away votes. Sure, I voted but I have no way to verify what actually happened to me vote. Did it "count" or was it labeled spoiled or was it thrown away or did Diebold switch it without my knowledge? All the votes should be scanned and put on a website somewhere so independent audits could be conducted. Why does it need to be "secret" anyway? Who cares?
-
The secrecy prevents voter intimidation. "Vote for candidate X or you will lose your job", for example.

Good point. But surely there must be some way as a citizen I can verify for myself what happened to my vote. Once I cast my ballot it disappears down the memory hole and then either party can just toss it in the garbage but then smile in my face and say, "Don't worry! Trust us! It was counted!" And using outside auditors wouldn't really work because, again, if we're in a Diebold situation and the computer is rigged to "switch" every 5th vote to a specific party -- the auditors would just see that, yes, I voted and it was counted. They wouldn't know that it recorded the wrong candidate. What if we had the option to "sign away" our right to a secret ballot? What if I could sign something so that I could see what happened to my vote? If some people want to stay secret fine, just vote as normal. But if enough people (such as myself) insisted on verifying my own vote in some manner then it would make it very difficult to just toss out votes or "switch" them via Diebold. Someone, somewhere would catch it and say, "WTF?" and then we'd be able to really take a closer look at the tallying process.

What really sticks out in my mind is the old "provisional ballot" con game. People would go to the wrong precinct and be told, "Don't worry! Just fill out this provisional ballot!" But what they didn't say was that the provisional ballots didn't count and were tossed in the garbage. Or they would create them on non-regulation weight paper and -- oops! -- these ballots aren't official (hee hee) and they'd toss them in the garbage. But the voters never know! Or they find out months later after the new cadidates are already sworn in and the whole thing is too late. I wonder about Ron Paul. The Republicans just hate this guy. I wonder if their using their old "voting tossing" tactics to keep him out of the race?
