A series of newsletters in the name of GOP presidential hopeful Ron Paul contain several racist remarks -- including one that says order was restored to Los Angeles after the 1992 riots when blacks went "to pick up their welfare checks."

The controversial newsletters include rants against the Israeli lobby, gays, AIDS victims and Martin Luther King Jr. -- described as a "pro-Communist philanderer."

  • The newsletter reads like a transcript from "hack comedian night" at the Ha-Ha Hole. Only just like any act at the Ha-Ha Hole, these remarks are neither funny, nor clever...just offensive.

  • This is MIs information....Those arcticles were written by a biggot sure, but Ron Paul didn't authorize them. Check the facts or your no better than Fox News.

  • If Ron Paul is not racist, then why did he:

    - say racist things in his newsletter? If he didn't write it, then why does it have his name on it?
    - get endorsements by known klan leaders?
    - join the John Birch society?

That's sure a lot of smoke for there not to be a fire.
  • He fired the writer immediately.

  • Just because they were written on behalf of Ron Paul does not mean that he approved them or supports them. In the Republican Presidential Candidate Debate he disassociated himself from these types of people.

  • This is GREAT NEWS! Ron Paul's MESSAGE of FREEDOM is getting enough support from everyday American's that he is garnering ad hominem attacks.

What a amazing coincidence that this "news" is generated from the same RAG that help craft the FEAR mongering that caused this nation to plunge into IRAQ without thinking!

How interesting that Paul leads all Republicans among blacks.

In case you might care about the TRUTH:

"The quotations in The New Republic article are not mine and do not represent what I believe or have ever believed. I have never uttered such words and denounce such small-minded thoughts.

In fact, I have always agreed with Martin Luther King, Jr. that we should only be concerned with the content of a person's character, not the color of their skin. As I stated on the floor of the U.S. House on April 20, 1999: "I rise in great respect for the courage and high ideals of Rosa Parks who stood steadfastly for the rights of individuals against unjust laws and oppressive governmental policies."

This story is old news and has been rehashed for over a decade. It's once again being resurrected for obvious political reasons on the day of the New Hampshire primary.

When I was out of Congress and practicing medicine full-time, a newsletter was published under my name that I did not edit. Several writers contributed to the product. For over a decade, I have publicly taken moral responsibility for not paying closer attention to what went out under my name." -- Ron Paul

  • Let us not ignore the fact that this was debunked almost a decade ago.

  • Well to me making charges against his personal and political views based on a debunked issue is basically like asking Steve Burns in an interview: "Is it true that you died of a drug overdose? And if you did, how would that affect your work performance?"

(by the way, Steve Burns was Steve off of Blues Clues, if ya didn't know)

  • Maybe this is WHY he's being targeted? Maybe his ideas might actually make MORE sense then the ones that are currently running our country?

REMEMBER that it is IDEAS that run things- SInce ACTION comes from within how we THINK...

  • I'm just glad I'm not the only one who realizes what's going on here. He's the only person who actually says something when of worth when he speaks, so naturally they are trying to take him out. It is the same tactics they've been using for years.
