Under current UK anti-terror laws you can be locked up and repeatedly questioned by police for up to 28 days without being charged. You might not even be told why you are there.
"It looks good on paper, until it happens to you" - Riz Ahmed, actor and musician.
The Government is now proposing to extend this period to 42 days. With your help, we can stop them. Watch these interviews and visit www.chargeorrelease.com to find out more.

Hey Ladyliberty,
This is an interesting film - what's the background to this piece?

Hi Lina1980!
We produced this video as part of our Charge or Release campaign: Vivienne Westwood and Riz Ahmed have been supporting the campaign, and DNR Films made the film for us!
By distributing the film we're encouraging people to support the campaign, but also trying to raise awareness of what pre-charge detention is, and what it will mean if it is increased.
Although there is no evidence that a longer period of pre-charge detention will make us any safer, the Government has proposed increasing the limit from 28 to 42 days, which means you could be locked up and repeatedly questioned by police for 6 weeks, maybe without even knowing why you were there.
We stopped the Government extending pre-charge detention to 90 days in 2005, and we can do it again, but only with help from our supporters! Please spread the word about the film and the campaign.
Also, if you'd like to see the video (and our 'trailer' viral) with the right aspect ratio visit us on Myspace: www.myspace.com/chargeorrelease
Thanks!
