In what has to be the game of weekend, WSU will walk into Pauley Pavillion tomorrow in a Pac 10 showcase showdown that makes me forget there is playoff football happening. So lets get down to business...
Who's winning this game? Easy, it has to be the Washington State Cougars by at least 1 point. Something just feels good about this being the year that WSU finally gets their second or third ever against UCLA in that storied building. I think Baynes will have a big game but so will Love. I think Low will be a big factor and remind a lot of people of what he can do offensively. Collison and Luc being <100% doesn't help UCLA either. Shipp will have a tough matchup going against Kyle Weaver who is the best defensive player at his height.
Such an even matchup means that supporting players will be crucial. UCLA definitely has the advantage in this regard with Matta and Aboya able to contribute quality minutes and give Love some rest when he needs it or gets into foul trouble. For the cougars, solid play will be needed from Forest, Harmeling and Koprivica to counter UCLA's depth.
Analysis aside, two great teams, coaches and records will collide Saturday in what should be nothing short of a March Madness type atmosphere. Can't wait to watch this story unfold.

  • I always have something intelligent to say about these matters.

AROC - I'm admittedly a bit nervous about this game especially since Collison is most probably out. Not having our veteran point guard is going to hurt, but I think this game is going to come down to our bigs. If we use our size advantage to slow the game down a bit and dominate the paint, we should be fine.

Pauley Pavilion will be rocking and the Bruins will take their rightful place atop the Pac-10 conference standings.

  • bobdobalina, I agree, the bigs will be a huge part of this game and an area that I have to admit UCLA may have a slight advantage. only a slight one though and only because of their depth. since both teams play such amazing defense I think it may come down to which bigs can shoot a high percentage and which bigs can block some shots and keep the other team from scoring a high percentage. having two big guys on the bench that could start anywhere else in the country (Aboya and Matta) is trully and asset that always serves Howlands team well.

  • AROC, I can't wait to see Mata or Love throw your brother's stuff into the stands when he tries to come into the lane :)

  • He's tough to block but I'm guessing he will play it smart and let Baynes and Cowgill take the shots in the paint.

And here I thought this was the game of the year
If only the Pac-10 was as fun as the A10...

    Hmm...
Is the second time WSU v. UCLA play this season going to be the second game of the year?

  • kozeki, yes the second game will have to take a backseat to this one, unless both teams can manage to be ranked higher than 4 & 5 by the time UCLA comes to Pullman.

  • I may be a Bruin diehard, but I'm not sure I understand how we're a 6.5 pt favorite today - especially with Collison and Luc Richard both questionable due to injuries.

    11:30 AROC - be ready!
