"Within the first 10 minutes, 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system..."
So that is why it helps me stay awake :)

This is exactly what happened to me. In 1995 I moved from NY to LA and started drinking soda because I needed the caffeine to keep me awake at night. I was new to the LA music scene and a rising publicist working for a few different labels. I was drinking easily two (2) two liters per day of diet coke, because it had the most caffeine. Followed by Doctor Pepper and then Mountain Dew. By mid 1998 I had had my first stroke at the young age of 37 and was suffering from a new case of high blood pressure. It didn't take a degree in rocket science to make me realize that my fast food, high sugar, caffeine diet was the cause of it all. I now live in NY, have chronic kidney failure, congestive heart failure and just had my first Heart attack about a month ago. There has to be a way to warn kids about the long term effects of fast food and soda. Question: Why doesn't the government step in and regulate these businesses?

diet soda is the worst. if semi-quasi-natural refined white sugar is bad for us, imagine what the fake sugar does!
btw, thanks for posting dr. mercola! -
i have just about cut all soda and fast food out of my diet, and ironically ( i guess) ive been more awake and energized than i ever was drinking 4-5 cans of soda a day.

When the nutrition label says 240 cal, 65 carbs and absolutely no listings of anything actually nutritional, then there should be an indication that it's bad for you.
