Yemen has stated that the US should free its Guantanamo Bay prisoners, arguing that public opinion of the States would be improved dramatically. President Ali Abdullah Saleh invoked images of the founding principles of the US - 'freedom and justice', and human rights, in his letter to Bush. Around 100 of the 275 Guantanamo inmates are Yemenis.
