  • I definitely want to support the writers in this situation but what about the non-writing staff? Should camera men, assistants/interns, stagehands have to suffer because of this current fight? Everyone is pointing out that it's a paycheck that Stewart & Colbert want, however, I believe it's paychecks for their staff that they want. They don't want to fire people.
I also want to point out that Jon started as a stand-up comedian and Stephen started in improvisational theater. Maybe they write a bit here and there but I believe the show is driven on the talent they've had for quite some time.

  • Aren't Colbert, Stewart, O'brien and the like going on air so the writers and staff can be paid or something.

  • And anyway, what kind of first name is Saxon... I mean, seriously folks...

  • I agree with MornRail, this strike has gone on too long, and the AMPTP (or NAMBLA), has been too stubborn and greedy to make a fair deal. This has brought all the late night hosts in the middle of a tough situation: Go back to work while the writers are gone, or let their non-writing staff lose their jobs. Critics like Saxon are being too harsh on the wrong people. It's all gotten so ridiculous.

  • Why do we have to take a stand in this thing?
We are not in the writers union...
I understand that taping of new shows doesn't help the strike, but if you watch the daily show, you know they're gonna spend a lot of time on the strike, and bring their point across, and because there isn't anything new on tv, the ratings will be through the roof... This might just help the strike....

    right?

  • TV's dying, and we all know it. Download the struck shows you'd normally watch, skip the paid-TV versions, and this whole thing goes away by demand alone.

That, or stop watching TV altogether. Or keep complaining.
  • For those like Daniel DeWinter who asks why we should have to take a stand on the Writers Strike, I say, if you're an employee, who better to make a case for getting a fair share of the real wealth your work creates? Is it really you they're striking for? That's where there's a leap of faith. In my opinion, every time a union wins, the playing field shifts, and I've certainly read that statistics bear this out.

  • Not having to take a stand on this issue by not watching the show doesn't mean I don't agree with the writers, of course they deserve a fair share of the online profits.
But i did feel that the writer of this article was far to dramatic in writing this article.

Let's watch the show, see what they're about and then draw our conclusions..
