I find the story of this guy really interesting.
Alan Bean is a former NASA Astronaut and in 1969 became the fourth man to walk on the moon.
In 1981, he left NASA to devote his time to painting. He said his decision was based on the fact that, in his 18 years as an astronaut, he was fortunate enough to visit worlds and see sights no artist's eye, past or present, has ever viewed first-hand and he wants to express these experiences through his art.
He's the only artist in the world who uses moon dust (found on his old space suits) in his paintings. He also uses the hammer used to pound the flagpole into the lunar surface to texture his works. -
