This is the problem with abortion being illegal. People are going to find ways to do it anyways no matter how risky the consequences are. In Indonesia, where anti-abortion laws are very strict, an estimated 1.3 million procedures are carried out annually. Consequences are often painful...and not just for the would-be mothers. Sometimes the aborted babies survive with severe disabilities.

  • omg, that is so sad...I can't say I'm 100% for abortion, I would definitely recommend other options first but I do think it should be legal because obviously women are going to find a way to do it...1.3 million procedures are already being carried out annually, that's crazy!

  • Horrific, but true. Making abortion illegal does not stop abortions from occuring. Sadly, they'll return to the butcher shops and back alleys. This is an example of the desperate measures a hopeless woman will take. The worst cases are the do-it-yourselfers., nothing good comes of it. What rubs my fur the wrong way is when I hear a man voice his opinion on this issue. Whether you agree or not, when the day a man wakes up and says to himself...."Oh my God I think I'm pregnant, now what am I going to do?" The day that happens, then he can have a voice. Very sad indeed.

  • Though it will rub your fur the wrong way, do go to this current conversation, you'll see some of the unconscionable male comments, and some well-placed and worded retorts.

  • ruthlessma, i can see where you come from with your man problem but when people bring that up, it pisses me off, its downright being sexist through ignorance.
how about the many men who have given up their livelihood to support a family, or had to help a loved one make such a hard choice. the day you can wake up, and say "oh my god, i have to change everything in my life to help her." then you can have a voice, and remember if you chose to have sex, then you deal with the consequences as well as anyone else man or women.

however, to the subject at hand, i am the same with this as my policy on marijuana use, i oppose it. however due to the problems with each being illegal, it is better for it to be legalized.

Note: may i add that i am personally disgusted with any guy who would not stand by the person they got pregnant whatever the womans choice.
