Sounds sooo wrong. Read the review, you'll see what I mean.

Have you tried it?

  • Ok, I've heard of the Michelada before. Kinda like a spiced up beer. Quite nice, actually. But a pre-made canned version? Makes me puke in my mouth a little.

  • I've had this, it's not bad.

In my Mexican town, we used to drink Chincheladas, which were: Rum, Beer, Hot Sauce, Chile Powder, Shrimp (or Oyesters), Lime, Clamato, and Salt.

It sounds gross, but I fell in love.

    Check out:
    Clamatolandia in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico.

  • pretty interesting marketing...clamato is much more commonly consumed in mexico, but has a strong foothold in the us...btw, a Michelada is made by crushing a lime with salt in the bottom of a tall beer glass and then pouring the beer in. nothing to do with clamato...

  • I was highly suspicious of this drink but they must've russled up a few Chicanos for their focus groups because they came out with a PASSABLE alternative to the home made, real deal situation. I treated myself to two homemade concotions yesterday, using Modelo Light, sea salt, half a lime, Tapatio (fcku Tabascao) and a dash of Worcester sauce.

Which beer has worked best for you?

By the way, the real turn off (alongside the taste of Budweiser) was the price: $2.59 ?!?!

  • Hmmm...I've seen this, but not too sure about trying it. Although I'm a sucker for new things. I DID try the Michelob Chocolate and Cherry Lager that was available in limited amounts during the Christmas season....and I liked that quite a bit. Can't find it anywhere anymore. I would surely purchase it again.
Joshuaheller do you actually put the shrimp IN the Chincheladas?

  • yeah, well not when i make them myself... but at Lluvia de Estrellas en Pachuca Hidalgo.

  • If anybody's from California, head to Rosarito Beach in Baja. There's a place called La Cachanilla where they make the BEST milchiladas. the name is MILCHILADAS...anyway...its the best with dos equis but you can basically use any beer. Mix it with Lucas sal, valentin sauce, and fresh limones...its off the chain. I would totally try one by BUD too....it sounds good if you dont feel like going through the process of making one. iQUE VIVA MEXICO!
