It's based on the results from a 2005 survey by Durex that noticed gems like the fact that young people continue to have sex at an earlier age than previous generations: while the 25-34s lost it at 17.9, the 21-24 year olds were 17.5 and 16-20 year olds were just 16.3.
I actually expected it to be a little younger to be honest.

i knw someone who has onli just turned 14 and she wants to loose her virginity at my 18th birthdai in 5 months.
the thing is i dont get why cant people wait, i waited untill i was 17 and i made sure it was with someone i trusted. These days no-one really cares who they have sex with as long as they look kwl in front of their friends it doesnt matter to them how old they really are
i blame it all on peer pressure!!! bloody kids!!!-

The way sex is pushed down our throats 24/7, and most childhood role models promote sex and objectification i am really surprised, no, extremely surprised.
Most of my friends here in Wales (UK) lost their virginity around 13-15. Maybe because we started drinking early, i don't know.
But England has one hell of a teenage pregnancy problem and all you have to do is walk down the average street and obviously see that 16-17 is a joke.
Maybe there are more kids who stay in their rooms playing WoW than i thought... i dont have a clue.

With this rediculous undersampling in the third world, I think these scales are unreliable. They missed over half the global population, and those are the ones that gotta stop makin' babies. Where people screw early w/o protection there exists patriarchy and high infant mortality. Gotta figure when you live in Sub-Saharan Africa, there's little to do most of the time so all they do is screw around. Any wonder why then there's such high HIV transmission rates, kiddos shouldn't be screwing around!

Is this going to go on to the dreaded "Overpopulation" debate? I hope so, really scares some people.

the world is already overpopulated... but it is because we srew around and have kids
but there are place where you can onli have one child and you cant even have one child if youo dont have a licence. And if you dont have a licence then that child doesnt actually exsist and god it goes on and on and on!!!!
but my point is its too late now!!! so there is no point!!!-

Is overpopulation really the issue here? Or is virginity the issue? Realistically it seems that there is a sanctity in the idea of virginity that is totally foreign to an overpopulation problem. Let's talk about the heart of the matter.

Celibacy is overrated anyways...
