I've been a mushroom gatherer all my life - that's a very Russian habit. Indeed, when I find a place where the much sought-after chanterelles or morels grow, I don't tell anyone where it is. I am also familiar with what most of the widespread deadly toadstools (a mushroom is edible, a toadstool is poisonous) look like, such as the deadly Amanita Phalloides (Death Cap) which can be confused with an edible mushroom - furthermore, some Amanitas are edible and delicious, such as the Amanita crocea. The best policy when mushroom picking is to not pick any mushroom you are not familiar with, or to place unfamiliar mushrooms in separate paper bags, because the direct contact between an Amanita Phalloides and an edible mushroom will contaminate the latter with the deadly toxins of the former. :) Porcinis (Boletus edulis) and most other types of Boletus are quite common and widespread, so their location doesn't need to be kept secret.
The fly-agaric is not deadly poisonous, it is entheogenic and hallucinogenic and was used by European shamans. When I was three years old, I ate four or five of them - I survived quite well, and I had a major shamanic initiation by consuming them.
