Terrific pod. I was lucky enough to go on a safari in Tanzania this past summer. It was truly a life changing, 'out of species' experience. The Maasai are a very sweet people, and seem to be able to balance their heritage and traditions with modern realities. I saw couple with traditional attire, walking sticks.... and cell phones and shiny watches.
You can check out some safari pix on my bro's Flickr if you wanna-

This pod is well done and gives some great information to the viewer. What really shines in this pod, though, is how the conflict in this piece is addressed, that of the Maasai's culture slowly getting replaced by modern culture. The pod shows how it's deeper than just "modern culture is stealing away from the Massai way of life," because modernization for the Massai doesn't just mean having cell phones and losing boys to the city; it also means a reduced number of circumcisions and certain improvements to their every day lives. The pod is a great example of the conflict many indiginous tribes are facing, and it does a good job at showing us how its and important and interesting aspect of globalization worth discussing. Well done.

This is great reporting on a culture that many people are not very aware of. I loved this pod, because it showed the culture of this African tribe in such a positive way...it showed that although historically the Maasai was a tribe known for their battles and fighting (which is what I have learned), this tribe is a wonderful, warm, and peaceful people. I think it is very important to be culturally educated about people across the globe.
GREAT POD! -

I hope that the Masai people, traditions and culture live on for centuries more...
