Well it took Canada long enough but America is now on its list of "countries that torture". The funny thing is that the US has enough gaul to complain and insist that we be removed from the list. I have taken to calling them the "Ribbentrop Brigade".

What I find amusing is that most people who deny that the United States tortures have redefined what acts fall under the term or torture. Waterboarding is torture. If you want to debate that it is not, then get a bunch of your friends together, read up on how waterboarding is performed, and administer it to yourself.
Personally, I'm kinda at a loss about why Canada hasn't put the United States on the list earlier. Didn't we illegally capture, detain, and torture a Canadian citizen who happens to be of middle eastern descent? I would think that if we had done that to a country with a military, we would have performed an act of war.-

I believe you're talking about Maher Arer, but in that case we didn't torture him. We just sent him to Syria where they spent a year torturing him before the Canadians were about to get him back. We still haven't apologized to him.
But I firmly believe that the United States does not torture. Of course, my definition of torture is: "Any act of interrogation in which 1- sleep is deprived for a period of 8,136 hours or more (8,135 hours is NOT torture), 2- both eyes are gouged out (not just one), all members of the detainee's family are raped in front of their eyes (extended family included), 3- each page of the detainee's sacred text is urinated upon separately (does not count if the pages are not read aloud prior to desecration), 4- the detainee is stripped completely naked and tossed in a pile of at least 47 other totally nude bodies (a detainee wearing a leash or black bag around his head will not be considered naked), and 5- enough blood is spilled by wounds inflicted to fill 91 gallons (red blood-cells only). If, and only if, ALL of the above criteria are met, the act of interrogation constitutes torture." So OBVIOUSLY the U.S. does not torture, and that's something we can all be proud of. Fuck Canada. -
The act of torture is the changing of a persons ability to respond through the act of inflicting pain, depriving sensory input, or threatening tthe family or loved ones of a person. It is a sick way of obtaining information and should be outlawed. Those that think that it is a reliable way of obtaining information are mistaken.

Thanks a lot Canada! After all we did for you...all of our hard work and suffering to prop up your once weak as hell dollar to the point that its value eclipses our own...and this is what we get in return? Placement on your torturous list?? What did we ever do to deserve this?? I hope you enjoy the shopping trips down south!
Ungrateful louts!-

I feel that I have to apologize in advance for this comment, so I'm sorry if I inadvertently insult anyone.
I cannot tell if Bobdobalina and Kemstone are being sarcastic or not.-

Hahahahahahahah!!! You've got to love the internet! You can go on the most crazy, sarcastic, over-the-top rant you can think of, and people still have to wonder if you're serious!
-
Sorry, its just without tone of voice it can be very difficult to determine if someone is serious or not. Besides, I have seen many people on different forums who would say something similar to your remark, with the exception that they were not being sarcastic but dead pan serious.

did Canada add itself to its list? If not, I'll give you one word that explains why they should:
CURLING!!!!!! -
I think it's high time someone invented a new next format, other than bold or italics, to specifically indicate sarcasm. Think of how dramatically it will change the dynamics of on-line discourse!
