The fighting early on Saturday came a day after Israel closed the borders to Gaza and bombed an empty Hamas building in increasing efforts to stop rocket fire from Hamas onto Israeli border towns.

Hamas vowed to continue fighting.

  • Looks like that Middle East peace process which Bush was so keen on is working a treat. Both sides shook hands didn't they! Jeeeeeeeeeze.

  • Very interesting article. It seems to have to do more about the blockade of the Gaza and the humanitarian crisis.
    Article quote "Israel, with Egypt's cooperation, has blockaded Gaza since June, when the Islamic militants of Hamas violently seized power there. Under Hamas rule, militants have been free to fire near-daily rocket barrages at Israeli towns around Gaza, terrorizing swaths of southern Israel. The rockets have killed 12 Israelis in the past six years."

    phillyharper, I do not think that Hamas and the Israeli government ever shook hands. Can you please show me where and when that occurred? I believe that the Middle East peace process and handshaking you are referring to was between Israel and Fatah.
