The latest polls show that in the upcoming South Carolina primary a third of democratic voters will be black women and while most of them know how each candidate stands on the issues; the question for them is...do I vote for a woman because I am or do I vote for a black man because I am also black!?
So ask yourself...what would you do!?

pretty presumptuous to assume the ONLY two considerations for female black voters are their gender and their race.
-
Well barkway, in terms of black voters they overwhelmingly vote Democrat, so it really is a two-way decision.
I'd say for black women, if they've had experience with black men they'll side with Obama because he represents to them their ideal man: educated, responsible, compassionate and motivated to support the community. If they're basically social climbers and only want to get a better job by stepping on other people's necks (no matter what their color or gender), then it's Hil-dawg all the way.-

What would I do? I would vote for John Edwards ( as I plan to do in NJ) because I am fed up with Clinton and Obama being thrown at me as my only choices because one is a black man and one is a woman irrespective of their platforms.

Vote for the person based on their ability to lead a country, not their race or gender.

As a black woman to tell the truth...I don't know who I will vote for. I think on one hand a black president would show the world that the US in not still living with backwards views. That race isn't an issue. I don't want to vote for him because he is black, but because he will make my country better for all. Also I have a son, who needs to see that entertainment is not the only way to make it in life.
She on the other hand, I think that it is time to let a woman control this country, we have always been the backbone of our families, and she is the woman that I would want to lead my country out of this BS that these men has put us in( not that he can't do that too).
In the end... by th time my state votes(PA) the choice will already be made and I will vote for whoever is lefted. I just hope they combined thier efforts and run together, now that a ticket that I WOULD VOTE FOR!!! -
for the love of god...... i know what it is. SOME of us are too afraid of what people will think of us for supporting Obama. "Oooh. You're just voting for him cuz he's Blaaaack". Who wants to be that person, right? WRONG. I personally think that the bottom line is that it's *responsible* to vote for the canidate whose platform and ideas you believe in, regardless of race or gender, plain and simple. but god damn. Sistas, don't be afaid to support the Blaaaaack guy if you truly believe that he's the better man. We have to get over this Willie Lynch mentality; as if we can't rely on Obama because he's Black, or as we like to say " He's inexperienced". HORSE HEY. And lets stop jocking Hillary because her man was the former Commander in Chief. What the hell kinda head start does that really give her over ANY of the canidates? Hey IF she ends up on the ticket, I'd support her, no doubt. But lets not count those chickens just yet. **OBAMA/EDWARD '08**

Wow. When I saw this topic I thought "oh god the media's brainwashing campaign is totally succeeding" but the posts by Tradiggy and Vainglorious revived my faith in the people...for the time being.
It's just downright WRONG that the media dwells on this endlessly, ceaselessly, night and day, on and on and on: black? woman? black? woman? black? woman? a BLACK guy? a WOMAN? Who will you vote for? The BLACK guy? Or the WOMAN?
For the love of God (who just happens to BE a black woman), can we PLEASE just move on? They've been talking about the black thing and the woman thing for well over a year now and I don't think they've noticed that THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES AT STAKE HERE!!!
And can we give black women just a LITTLE bit of credit and not just ASSUME that they're either going to vote for the black guy JUST BECAUSE he's black or for the woman JUST BECAUSE she's a woman? Oh, I forgot. The media is run by rich white guys, so the answer is obviously no. -
Obama is not black.
Everyone who is not colorblind knows that.
And for that matter Hillary is not white.
Other than Michael Jackson I've never seen a white man. -
Tradiggy - you've hit the nail on the head!
A UNITED ticket is what we're already looking at; support whomever you want, it's our collective right to do so. Not only that, but the evidence now seems clear to me that Obama and Edwards are a ticket now, Hillary and Bill are basically now in the race to show what the 90's gave us and gamble that we try it again. Their personality gets "framing effect" by the media comparing popular leaders of our past and trying to influence us to think in these heavy, historical terms. Edwards represents the Kennedys (say what you will about Joe Kennedy's boys, but they -were- pretty effective and popular leaders killed before their time). Obama represents the populist in MLK. Together we are putting our abbreviated candidates as a pair of history setters and see what the gamble produces.
Everything is working as planned, the country is going to follow a populist centrist bent. The evidence is represented in the hearts and minds of thousands of people mobbing each one of their campaign rallies.
Bush to me, now, is the "gift" we all needed to have: a lightning-rod of what -not- to do in the future. Everyone knows it, and the decision has already been made globally not to allow another Bush to get selected (a la Romney and Rudy).
All three are saying "change", but what they mean is "change to any three of us, we don't care who you pick now as long as it's not Bush's style of government."
So... support all -three-! Together with a blue ticket, America can't loose. We tried the hard-right conservative GOP, we got what we paid for: a corruput economy, backwards society where the poorer off get isolated, and a foreign policy that is hated worldwide.-

This black woman will vote who she thinks is best for the job, a decision not based on race or gender. I'm sick of it. Evolve.
