This is the story of a school in Northern Uganda that uses creative means to rehabilitate children who have been abducted and forced to kill against their will. Its a school called Hope North and is run by the charismatic Ugandan actor, Sam Okello, who recently starred in The Last King of Scotland, alongside Forest Whitaker.

The use of children in times of war is not a new phenomenon - for centuries they have been dispatched as 'drummer boys, messengers, porters, and servants' - what is worrying today is both the nature of work they are being forced to do - including bearing arms - and the scale of the phenomenon. Between 1995 and 1996 alone, it is estimated that '250,000 children were serving either in government armies or in opposition forces'. Okello's project is inspiring and humbling. I would also like to say, without meaning to sound trite or patronizing, that I thought some of the children's art shown on this pod was beautiful.

This is a great, clip, it has to be seen. It is the right of every child to have an education. It is the right of every child to be apart of the arts. It is the right of every human being to feel Free!
