Yahoo plans to lay off hundreds of employees in order to maintain profitability, company insiders said Monday.

Yahoo has recently been eclipsed by Google and social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace.

  • This may be a sign of "too little, too late" by Yahoo. So many other search engines have surpassed them at every turn that keeping up may be the only thing they can do. Unless some other savvy entity swallows them up, I think they're on the way out.

  • Story is crazy, especially since Yahoo was just rated as one of the top 100 companies to work for, I guess Google is going to be getting a lot of resumes
