Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence in a drug-related death, police said. He was 28.
CNN is reporting that the New York medical examiner found the autopsy inconclusive and requires further tests.
TMZ has confirmed two of the medications found at Heath Ledger's apartment were Xanax and Valium, both anti-anxiety drugs. Cops also found Ambien, along with several medications prescribed in Europe.
Police have announced they found no illegal drugs in the apartment.

Seriously. He was an amazing actor...see "Monster's Ball" or "Brokeback Mountain". Wow. This is so sad. So. Sad.
So. Sad. -
He was reportedly found by his housekeeper and his masseuse - and apparenty pills were found near his body. He was 28.
As someone says on the NY Times blog "Everyone's got problems, some you see, some you don't." -
my heart goes out to his family...great talent and he will be missed

Wow, that was unexpected. Poor guy.
He was meant to be appearing as the Joker in Dark Night. Anyone know how far into filming it was? -
a sad loss to the acting community...

This is extremely sad news. Heath was an incredible actor and was apart of a film that helped changed the hearts and minds of many in the GLBT world, Brokeback Mountain. Here is a clip in his honor!
RIP Ennis Del Mar!-

Wow I can't believe this. He was amazing. I'll miss him, that's for sure.
-
I am terribly sad. He will be missed by so, so many.
-
According to Wikipedia, Dark Knight is in post-production, so it shouldn't be affected. There are a couple other films he was shooting that will have to make new plans, though.
It's quite unfortunate to hear he's dead. He was a very, very talented actor.-

I didn't realise how many films he had starred in, I'm sure he'll be missed by many in the film industry.
-
So shocking! I had the pleasure of knowing him personally, having first met him over 10 years ago. I've watched his career with great pride as he went from obscure young Australian actor living in LA to a major star.
What a tragedy...-

This is so truly sad. He had so much depth and potential. I've been a fan since his "ROAR" days. He will surely be missed. I wonder if there were any signs this was coming.

It's being reported that Heath Ledger was found dead at an apartment owned by Mary-Kate Olsen.
-
This is just another example that success, money, fame, even the love of your own child can not protect you from imortality.
He was a brilliant actor. So much promise, so much more to do. I must say that my heart aches for his little girl. Another child that has to grow up without a parent. Especially under such circumstances.
Ennis Del Mar.... xoxoxo you! -
It's now being reported it wasn't in Mary Kate Olsen's apartment. Ah, the perils of breaking news.
"A highly credible source connected to Heath Ledger tells TMZ the apartment where the actor was found was not owned by Mary Kate Olsen or related to her in any way." -
The good die young....
-
this news is incredibly sad...my heart goes out to the family...such great talent...he'll be missed. RIP Heath.
-
What a sad day for the film/acting community. I can't even fathom how many great roles and characters will never be. Rest in Peace Heath - and may the angels great you with as much love, joy and honesty as you have given the world.

SF Chronicle/SFGate movie critic Mick LaSalle gives his thoughts... here's an excerpt:
"Like few who ever lived, much less lived to be 28, Heath Ledger left behind moments and images that were guaranteed even Tuesday - even a week ago, when he was presumably healthy and had the world before him - to outlive his mortal life. When I got the news, I immediately flashed on one of them." -
Does anyone else think this has something to do with his crazy mental state while getting into the role of the Joker? Or has Ledger already shown a history of drug-use?
On the set of the Dark Knight he was reported to never be out of character and he kept a weird journal in the persona of the Joker. -
That is really sad. He seemed like a very talented actor.
-
Oh my, I loved him in Knight's Tale and just watched Brokeback Mountain and he was incredible. How truly tragic and sad. Such a great talent. My condolences to his family and especially his little girl.

This is very tragic, it always is when someone commits suidcide- no matter what age. My friend's husband commited suicide. It is the most selfish act someone could commit. The most hopeless. I wonder about his two-year old daughter... My friend's husband left behind two amazing little boys. He doesn't even know what he's missing out on.
If anyone is in trouble, or feels they have hit rock bottom, the only way to go is up. Please seak help. There are people that have been where you are.
Take care of yourself everyone. -
Here is the latest:
TMZ has been contacted by a rep from Heath's family. The cops told the family Heath's death was accidental and there is no evidence to support the buzz that he may have committed suicide.
They are particularly distraught over media reports that he may have taken his own life. The family says he was not that kind of person.
Heath was ill with pneumonia when he died.-

Thanks for the update. He didn't seem like the type to commit suicide, but everyone has a "dark side"- and none of us knew him personally.
Time may only tell what his cause of death was... -
Heath was fantastic in Brokeback. An amazing person I had the chance to spend some time with in NYC. I will miss him dearly.

I'm gonna watch 10 things I hate about you...I'm sooo sad.
-
It's heartbreaking. He was so talented.
It's surprising that it was drug related.
He doesn't seem the type to do that.-
