The bus driver told the Goths "We don't let freaks and dogs like you on" after the Goth-couple tried to board bus.

"It is definitely discrimination, almost like a hate crime," 19-year-old Miss Maltby said yesterday.

Do you think this Goth couple was treated unfairly?

Hmm... well said in terms of giving an equally awkward answer for the context of the question. There is a whole lot of safety precautions that are involved with stereotypes, here obviously the bus driver was considering the entirety of those on the bus. Yes, he or she could have been more polite, but it is almost assumed such a reaction would occur. Of course we all have agency within the social norms, but they need to realize that their influence is negative or destructive to young children's view of how women should be treated. We don't live completely in our own little bubbles of reality, we do effect each other still, and very much so on a bus. The awkward thing here is that these two confused young adults are the reality that reality is becoming blurred into a realm of fantasy altogether, and rather ignorantly done so.

well i say its bollocks. if the bus driver had to say anything at all he could have been a little more respectful. its not like they started insulting him for conforming to the man. i dig all lifestlyes size shapes and forms.

the couple obviously wanted a little attention.
even thought they got it, in my opinion it was wrong, the best thing the driver could have done is say nothing,
it probably would have been more effective.

That is ridiculous to even read and know that this type of issue still happens. So, I only can say: Discrimination, discrimination who are thou when you raise your point of view against others in motion. Discrimination, Discrimination when you are going to stop and start to learn and control your own misleading temptations.

The couple certainly draw attention to themselves, but it isn't on the level of deserving public humiliation or being denied the use of mass transit.

Come on now, their just kids and it's relatively harmless - but it will never be my daughter or son doing such a thing.

This must not have taken place on a San Francisco bus or they might have been the most normal ones on the bus. Also, Buses are usually government operated transit systems and last time I checked government agencies are not allowed to discriminate against anyone--especially the public.

CosmoPlavix nailed it- dead on correct.

Now, did this chick insist she was a dog? Maybe they have a rule about dogs being on the bus... maybe they will now.

    well i think thats unfair
especialy from were i come from

why would they get treated like that
    when over here i see
a bald head thats tattoed up with gun tattoes and other gang related stuff
and every bus driver lets them in
while assuming they have hurt other people

but what the heck the driver probably is all retarted and is only narrow minded

While I do understand the argument that the couple's influence was "negative or destructive to young children's view of how women should be treated," I believe that teaching children tolerance is even more important.

We do not have to like the decisions others make, but as long as the decisions are not coerced and do not actively harm others, I do not think we should interfere. Kicking someone off a bus is clearly interference.

It is not interference, it is inconvienance. So these 2 will have to walk, wait for the next bus or perhaps even join society get a job and buy a car.
They are still free to demand as much attention as they want.
And what about tolerance for the bus driver and what he feels is comfortable? Suppose the woman asked the guy to punch her in the face? Are we supposed to teach kids that is ok because she asked for it?

I think that they should make a case out of it not for money but to remind that sweet bus driver of what it means to be employed by the US goverment.

I do not quite understand why on earth someone would ban a couple for their way of life. As I am a 'pet' myself, this bothers me. To discriminate someone solely for their differences is a terrible thing in my eyes.

  •

Why does the girl in the picture have a leash around her neck? This detail is questionable in my eye. Can someone explain to me why the girl is wearing a leash around her neck. I have been seeing this lately. Is this a fashion statement or a subliminal message. Ya'll tell me.

  •

She has a leash on her neck to symbolize that she is a submissive---AKA, her 'master's' pet. Her master is the young man that has her on a leash. It's a common thing in the goth scene. It is part of the BDSM culture.

  •

This is wrong and discriminatory, but it is a far cry from a hate crime.

  •

you shouldn't do something like that because its not like they were gonna highjack the bus and in my experence i know that goths are the nicest people you could ever meet and just because someone is different or is doing something different that isn't a reason to hate them. anyway whats wrong with walking your grlfriend?
