Fundamentalist Christian chatroom quotes

It's not just the Scientologists getting talked about on the web. A site with other 100 quotes from fundamental Christian sites is grabbing the internet community's attention as its dinner party friendly (in a Last Supper sense, perhaps) content does the rounds.

Gems include:

"I can sum it all up in three words: Evolution is a lie"

"Gravity: Doesn't exist. If items of mass had any impact of others, then mountains should have people orbiting them. Or the space shuttle in space should have the astronauts orbiting it."

"Make sure your answer uses Scripture, not logic."

  • All these fundamentalists should show more respect towards dinosaurs.

  • =) honestly funny stuff. thanks for the innocent "gems" posted here and the good laugh I'm still having, although I'm sure it masks the fact that many "other" theory proponents can be just as evidently ignorant or fanatical, smugly claiming status quo (at least in their minds) and the latest journals as if a bona fide badge of "their" intelligence... In lieu of accepted prejudice, some simple humility might help them more than any grasp of "scientific" facts.

  • How can people really believe this is a realistic response to someone getting raped...

"A woman wants to abort a rape child? She should have thought of that before she walked down that dark alley without a male presence, not to mention she should have thought before putting on revealing attire."

  • Funny or disturbing? Both? Yes. Both.

  • It is know that the Romans made signs of stone that described and warned of early christians. There main complaint on these carvings was that they did not believe in any gods. In other words, they were Aetheists. Of course, what they were saying is that they don't believe in our gods. The bible is a book, the torah, and the koran. Books are good. READ people.............I would put this on one of the sites from the link, but I'm scared of those folks. Maybe some of them will end up here by accident. One fam under heaven......................!

  • I found out I'm a hypocritical Muslim who completely lacks morality, and I'm ADD because I committed crimes before I was sentient. And that's just from the first ten! What I hate about religious extremists, more than the idiocy, more than the power lust, more than the indoctrination, is the fervor with which they can be so blatantly ignorant! They have the profound ability to lie openly and not care at all. They also make preposterous claims with no foundation whatsoever. You tube search Ray Comfort. He and Kirk Cameron (Mike Seaver from Growing Pains) founded "Way of the Master" ministry, and make a variety of videos to prove God. They have been repeatedly whipped in real debates with secularists, but push forth nonetheless. One of his best is the "Atheist's Nightmare," or, as it is more commonly called, banana. Comfort asserts that the banana was molded and crafted by God to perfectly suit humans. What he has discovered is that bananas, and get this, were domesticated. Who knew? It's not like a Google search, or any research whatsoever would turn it up as a result or anything. Oh wait, it does! The undomesticated banana is seedy, obtuse, hard, and disgusting. The pair make tons of these claims, and never withdraw them. Comfort has actually been forced to stop using certain arguments because they're insulting and a public nuisance. I can't compile my hatred for these two in one post. Do it yourself; go to their website: http://www.wayofthemaster.com/

  • FOUR RELIGIOUS TRUTHS

During these serious times, people of all faiths
should remember these four religious truths:

    1. Muslims do not recognize Jews as God's chosen
    people.

    2. Jews do not recognize Jesus as the Messiah.

    3. Protestants do not recognize the Pope as the
    leader of the Christian world.

    4. Baptists do not recognize each other at
    Hooters.

  • I can't belive that living breathing humans actually write this shit! Of course I am an Atheist so I don't deserve to live anyways according to them!
    etosha_pent
  • "of course"? can't "belive"? ...aww...you got it so bad etosha. (heh) Funny, an "Aetheist" is complaining that he can't "belive" lol ...sounds a lot like the fulfillment of my earlier post. i.e....some humility could potentially help; at least maybe slowing down the revolving door of
    "nothing but attitude."
    echoz
  • Etosh was being satirical; "...so I don't deserve to live anyways..." "Of course" was not used in the connotation in which you interpreted. It wasn't intended to mean atheism is the only concievable choice, but to introduce the satire. Don't read to much into it. Etosha also wasn't being haughty. I think attitude is necessary in responding to the moronic, bigotted, ignorant, zealous quotes from the link.

  • I think everyone has the choice to believe in whatever they want--whether it is anything or nothing at all. And we shouldn't condemn each other for not 'believing' in what we hold to be true. That means not condemning people for believing in Evolution, God, or the Spaghetti monster.

  • well spoken dco thank you. i missed it completely. *blush* apologies etosh...everyone.

  • personally though...jesus is just alright with me. I don't wanna get trampled by any cows, i'm not into crossed-legged statues of fat guys, and I have a really hard time apparently seeing nothing at all (ie. atheism) as a lead in to satire. *shrug* but that's just me, just another typical "christian" american. can't I just blend in???

    =D

  • I think what really gets to me the most is how most of these blogs were so biggoted. I have always heard that christians were supposed to be about love and acceptance, now I do take into mind that they did not print blogs that stated that, but I just shudder to think that there really are people in this day and age that think like that.

  • Echoz - Your second to last post has a twinge of contempt for eastern religions. I tend to side MORE with the contemplative faiths, as they endorse more of a philosophical path than a constricting and presumptuous dogma. Many eastern faiths seem to not be religious at all, as the locus of control is not of God, but of the Self (Buddhism), nature (Taoism), or respect (Confucsism). If you truly have attempted to approach atheism, your aim should not be to get rid of God, but to THINK differently. Think without subscribing to belief or faith, and you will at least see the atheistic perspective. I don't expect you will succeed in this, because I cannot do the opposite. I can't simply "believe" in something. I cannot rely on "faith." It's just not enough. Technically, I could, but not earnestly, and I think in the eyes of an omnipotent being, the wont of belief will not suffice. I do, however, emplore you to try and see our perspective, though I understand if you can't.
