"NEW YORK: Recent laboratory tests performed for The New York Times found so much mercury in tuna sushi that a regular diet of even two or three pieces a week at some restaurants could be a health hazard for the average adult, based on guidelines set out by the Environmental Protection Agency."

It is just possible that Mercury is not that dangerous, at least not in all people. Growing up in rural places, as I did, I often got Poison Ivy, Oak, and Sumac. In fact, I am covered with it as I write this (I got it from some fire-wood). Well, before Mercury became officially a bad thing, there was a product called Mercurichrome. It was similar to iodine, but with mercury. I spent most of my childhood summers with this stuff all over me. It was and still is the only product that would cure these rashes almost instantly. If I could get some today I would definitely use it. I'm sure we have all heard the saying "Mad as a Hatter." This comes from the use of mercury in those rings painted inside of hats. Mercury was believed to cause mental disorders in the people working in the hat factories. I am glad to report that, despite so much exposure to Mercury during my life, (although there are those who might disagree) I have not as yet suffered from mental illness.
