My wife is studying for her master's degree in Education. She recently learned about the McGurk effect, a quirk of perception that is of interest to speech pathologists and language educators.
Watch the clip a few times and take careful note of the sound the man seems to be making.
Then close your eyes and play the clip again. You'll hear something slightly different.

I actually thought he was saying some mixture of "ga," "ba" and "da," or something in between. I don't know if these explains my somewhat poor listening skills in foreign languages or not.
But I love how speech pathology makes its way onto Japanese game shows. -
