Bruno Prior has now got the run of 12 miles of ski slopes in the Swiss Alps, all at the bargain price of just 50 pence. There's a catch though, a condition of the purchase is that he has to spend £20 million to bring the resort up to scratch.
Ernen is a small town looking for a big saviour; it's been struggling to make ends meet in the face of competition from more modern ski-resorts in the area. Without a booming nightlife and a good selection of shops the villagers are hoping that Mr Prior will spend his £20 million wisely, dragging the village into the 21st century.
Still, with an initial purchase price equivilent to just one franc, I can't help but feel that we've missed out on a bargain?
