When the story broke it seemed to be light news that Israel cut the power in Gaza, a mere after thought on news broadcasts and a page four item in the news papers. Shrouded in the news of the Palestinians pouring into Egypt, discussion of what life has become in a blacked out Palestine has finally started to grow.
With such little mention of it, it became easy to not consider what was, and still is happening there. The blockade set up by Israel has been cynically designed to affect the lives of people in Gaza in a profound and negative way. 72 people have now reportedly died as a result of not being able to get the correct treatment because of blockades and power outages.
For a real understanding of what it is like to live inside Gaza under an Israeli regime then read this article, a rare beacon of reality shining through the clouds of dust which keep us all from the real issue. What is happening is nothing short of an political hate crime and a humanitarian crisis, it needs to end, and someone needs to be held accountable.

Meanwhile, Egyot has begun resealing their border with Gaza. I'm not sure how or if they're going to try and ensure that everyone who came over from Gaza into Egypt has now gone back before they seal it up...

First off, there is no Israeli regime! That's nothing but an ignorant comment undermining the authority Israel has over it's Sovereign nation, that the Palestinians don't belong in anyway! The Palestinians were kicked out of Jordan before you were even born, for trying to overthrow that nation the same way they're doing it to Israel! You need to educated SON, before you go shootin' off your anti-semitic mouth! I suggest a book, (if you know how to read), by Pulitzer prizewinning journalist Joan Peterson entitled; "From Time Immemorial". She actually WENT to Israel to investigate the "poor Palestinians" plight at the hands of the Israeli "regime" as you so ignorantly put it, and discovered that the Palestinians never existed as a race to begin with, they were and still are a bunch of free-loading terrorist, and are the pawns of Israel's neighbors to try and overthrow Israeli Sovereignty with lies and politics! I guess someone like you "phillyharper" would be more that willing to move out of your neighborhood, your city, your state, so some free-loading bunch of illegals could have what rightfully belongs to you? If so you're less a man and more a punk, as well as ill-informed. Your story sounds more like regime propaganda than journalism, is that what they teach you in Philly?

This is a sensitive issue, probably the most sensitive issue there is today. I do have my views on what is happening there, and I'd like to think that I've remained as balanced as I can in making them.
It's a little unfair to call the whole of Palestine a bunch of "free-loading terrorist pigs" I feel. There are crimes being committed by both sides and all the violence needs to stop.
It seems to me however, that Israels violence is institutionalised therefore not considered "terrorist" where as Palestine, which doesn't have an organised military, are seen as terrorists. Killing is killing no matter what name you put on it - at least to me anyway.
I realise it is a sensitive issue, but I won't let that swamp my interpretation of what is happening.-

In Joan's book, she not only shows the origins of the so-called "Palestinian" people, she has photo copies of the original documents and communications between Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Jordan, outlining the plans on how to manipulate the PLO in exchange for financial support for living and weapons expenses, but also on media manipulation, and a several generation contingency knowing full well it would take 2 or 3 generations before the propagandist faction could prove itself useful. And by the way, not all terrorist use guns and bombs, a lot of them simply use their presence as a terrorist act! You youngun's need to learn that there is not only power in journalism, there's also accountability, no matter who you are or where you live! Otherwise you're nothing than a terrorist propagandist yourself! Personally, I think you're better than that, so act like it!

I understand the touchiness, but I also understand right and wrong, and there's way too much wrong in the American media. You guy's have not only the power to change that, but the responsibility to do it. To bring integrity and character to journalism is long over due! So get busy ya'll!

Why is all reporting on israel so one sided? In addition, the world gladly ignores other, much deadlier conflicts while keeping watch over israel so it can criticise it whenever something happens. Shame on all of you and get a life
