Here is but one site promoting grassroots organization of national "Goodbye Bush" celebrations in January 2009. Are you organizing one? Will you attend one? What would you suggest as a theme song for such a celebration?

  • I know: "I'll miss you...on Super News." I won't turn up though...I just want to hit him. (And I'm not usually like that)

  • A great deal of my graduating class, heck even a former girlfriend of mine will have to celebrate in Iraq. I feel like the problems are so endemic now that we need a cold shower and a five hour energy shot. A hangover can't fix the country, afterall the country has spent the last eight years with a president who was a former boozehound. We have got a LONG struggle ahead for the next four years and we all have to work for it. That being said the party should have a nukeular theme.

  • This site not only promotes worldwide celebrations, but it also aims at getting enough media coverage and grassroots video, audio, and written commentary to make the whole world take note that Bush and Cheney were reviled when they left office.
We need that kind of record, because the right-wing media-and-thinktank machine will certainly launch a campaign in a couple of years to "rehabilitate" the Cheney-Bush regime.
Only a massive, permanent record of the horrendous effects they had on real people will make it hard to them to rewrite history in the years to come.

  • every time i see bush on the t.v. or even hear him speak , the only thing that comforts me is heavy drinking
is that bad? it sure makes me feel better cause bush angers even and or especially the hippy inside me.

  • What? He won't be impeached by then?... Oh wait, what am I thinking? This is America where this will all just be made a big joke and an entire group of war criminals will walk away scot free. But heck, I'll play along.. how about Working On The Chain Gang as a theme song? That's where he should be going. And to me there won't be much celebrating looking at the damage he will leave behind that we allowed to take place for eight long years.

  • Here in NE Iowa we are planning Thank God They Are Gone/May We Heal Ourselves & Others Damaged event. I certainly hope that we never have to hear from these losers again.

  • My husband told me not to plan the party yet. Apparently, Bush has already took measures to ensure he could stay in power past next January.

  • Sorry, but I still don't believe your next president will be any good either, NOT racist, just that...well, ALL the runners just cast my haterid. Sorry, but the truth should be known.

  • Steadward,

Please list out your concerns. It is likely that Americans are upset about similar concerns in relationship to our next President.

    Examples of concerns:
    1) Incompetant foreign policy - probably the hardest to fix no matter who the candidate is. We have a lot of corporations that are invested in the status quo of making the world mad at us. Hopefully, our next president is one of the ones with more world experience and will be willing to talk to people from all over the world about common concerns. One thing I can promise, no more cowboy politics with a different President.
    2) Environment Protection and Issues - some candidates will be OK on protecting the environment and others will continue to allow businesses and people to rape the Earth.
    3) Economics - Hopefully the next President gets good advisors, because NONE of the candidates seem to understand Economic basics. Sigh.

  • Everything happens for a reason. Bush was elected because the people were complacent. Life was good for most people. We had our rights, our liberties and our freedoms. And now all that has been jeopardized. Bush has been good in one sense, we now know that we cannot take our liberties for granted. We must be viligant, we must speak up, we must stay informed. We cannot afford to have another leadership run amok or this great county will cease to exist.

  • Interesting to note that the Wall Street Journal, in rating all 43 presidents, placed Bush at 23. Carter was worse at 35. They had Washington first and Lincoln second.

  • the problem with "Farewell 43" my friend, is that it's asking for at least a 20 word statement. And I doubt Bush has ever read 20 words in his life. Nor if he could would I care to give him as many. Two words are enough.

  • Secondly, YES! Burn Bush in effigy at the Next Burning Man. Make the statue twice as large, in the exact likeness of our dear mr. president. And burn that motherfu*ker.
