Chavez wants an anti-US alliance

Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez has called on other Latin American and Caribbean countries to form a military alliance against the United States.

The vehemently anti-US leader says Nicaragua, Bolivia, Cuba and Dominica should create one united force.

Mr Chavez, a long time critic of what he sees as US imperialism, made the comments after a summit of its leaders.

"If the US threatens one of us, it threatens all of us," he said, "we will respond as one."

  • I just find amazing how Chavez rules his country base on hate. This guy hasn't done crap for the country but yet he finds time to create problems

  • Enisiojr: doesn't Bush try to unite the usa around hate. Chavez has done a lot for his country, considering all that the usa has done to undermine him. he is smart in trying to unite the carribean and latin american countries because the usa is the bully on the block. we did support/fund the coup in 2002. Chavez is a threat to our hegemony. what the usa finds so threatening is that he has developed a democratic socialist system that works and threatens free trade. our capitalistic "republic" system is a failure because it can only remain in place by military force. the usa has always exploited the latin american and carribean countries to the detriment of the people. please, stop reading the mainstream news.
