A character study of Jack Brander, a 93 year old piano craftsman. Through interviews and footage of his art, a life dedicated to the piano filled with an inner struggle with his own mortality and sense of loneliness is profiled.

I was moved to laughter I was moved to tears. Fantastic story well told.

wow, what a blunt insight into our own mortality. what is life without love?

Decent mini-doc. It's synposis/pitch is great - the reflections of a piano tuner looking back on his life. But the actual film/video didn't quite live up to the expectations the synopsis sets up.
A couple of critiques - first, why not cut in his dialogue under the piano tuning sessions? I understand that you're trying to treat the sounds of his tuning with reverence, but its at the expense of pacing. And slow pacing is the first thing that will cause audiences to tune out. I think the piece may be at risk of that. Second, every time the interviewer's voice can be heard, it jars the audience a little. I know the interviewer's question is needed for the audience to understand the answer, but still, it was jarring. Is there anyway to creatively get around that? And third, for all the footage of him tuning pianos, he never really talks in depth about the process of tuning and how he feels about it. The synopsis sets up the expectation of that, and its never really delivered.
So take my comments for what you will. I think your idea is great and you have some great material. I just think it could be better with some additional editing/trimming, and that the idea/subject deserves to be better.-

There's a lot of great stuff here, and he's such a great character.
That said, I feel like I understood how unique he was long before the piece ended. There's a lot that can come out while still keeping the air of loneliness that this pod hits so well. -
What a great guy, I want to get a piano so he can come over and tune it. You did a great job of bringing in the different aspects of the story in a cohesive way. It could stand to lose a couple of minutes, but I would not do it at the sake of the pace that you have created. I hope this gets on because this is the kind of thing that I would love to see on TV.
