Fake sample ballots in Maryland and intimidating letters in California were just some of the deceptive practices used to discourage voters during the 2006 election. Video the Vote was there to get the story.

  • I was sad to hear about this, but happy to be able to hear about it. This, and all other types of voter fraud, must be eliminated to the extent possible.
Caging lists, which contain names of potential voters, usually highly slanted towards minority voters, have been used to throw out Democratic votes by the hundreds of thousands. This is illegal, yet states have done little to prevent it.
Faulty ballot machines are apparently sent to key areas, so that thousands more votes can be thrown out.
Electronic ballots could potentially be hacked.
Something can be done about all of this. We know the kind of fraud that has happened in the past, and it is unacceptable to let it continue.
But instead of blogging about it, let's do something about it - contact local t.v. stations and Congress (go to www.Congress.org, and enter your zip code in the upper right corner to find your Congressmen/women and how to contact them). This is a great place to learn, teach, and discuss...but we have to DO something to make it all mean something.
