i hope he wins the nomination, and then the presidency. this stump speech nearly brought me to tears! i've never experienced that with any other politician.
-
What a powerful speech! These are all hopes and dreams I share that I've forgotten to even strive for in this country, since the whole of my adult life has been within the Bush administration. There is no telling how it will actually go down once he faces the pressures of the White House, but at least I'll be able to say I voted for someone who inspired passion and ignited patriotism in me, once again.
-
This is the inspiration that eveyone needs.... The change will come for eveyone and our infrastructure will be repaired....He means what he says....It will be done...He speaks to everyone..including foreign leaders....

Wow, what an amazing speaker.

I'm captivated by his motivational speeches. His cadence, his open and accepting language, and his emotional swells that suggest he is the one.
I only hope that he has the on-the-ground ability to make things happen. I hope that he has the guts to follow through with his ideas of change for America.
⢠Will he really make Global warming a priority?
⢠Will he really make Universal Health Care a reality?
⢠Will he really work towards solving Poverty and creating better education for all Americans?
⢠Will he end the foreign policy mess, promoted by those private interests in military industrial complex?⢠That's the big question for any president! Will he be able to stand up to the entrenched interests that are ruining America? I need to know that Barack is our man!
Has anyone studied his record? Can they prove it. Convince me, please.

I'm really happy Current put this together. I think it's a wonderful way to update voters who have not kept up with debates and speeches given by candidates.

By Susan Eisenhower..........
Forty-seven years ago, my grandfather Dwight D. Eisenhower bid farewell to a nation he had served for more than five decades. In his televised address, Ike famously coined the term "military-industrial complex," and he offered advice that is still relevant today. "As we peer into society's future," he said, we "must avoid the impulse to live only for today, plundering, for our own ease and convenience, the precious resources of tomorrow. We cannot mortgage the material assets of our grandchildren without risking the loss also of their political and spiritual heritage. We want democracy to survive for all generations to come, not to become the insolvent phantom of tomorrow." ...............................The last time the United States had an open election was 1952. My grandfather was pursued by both political parties and eventually became the Republican nominee. Despite being a charismatic war hero, he did not have an easy ride to the nomination. He went on to win the presidency -- with the indispensable help of a "Democrats for Eisenhower" movement. These crossover voters were attracted by his pledge to bring change to Washington and by the prospect that he would unify the nation.
It is in this great tradition of crossover voters that I support Barack Obama's candidacy for president.
If the Democratic Party chooses Obama as its candidate, this lifelong Republican will work to get him elected and encourage him to seek strategic solutions to meet America's greatest challenges. To be successful, our president will need bipartisan help.Given Obama's support among young people, I believe that he will be most invested in defending the interests of these rising generations and, therefore, the long-term interests of this nation as a whole. Without his leadership, our children and grandchildren are at risk of growing older in a marginalized country that is left to its anger and divisions. Such an outcome would be an unacceptable legacy for any great nation.

I can see by all the professional responses to the political processes that all the plain people on this web-site are are obviously paid off by the Obama people. In other words maybe all the people should act more like "regular folk" and less like a well oiled political machine. Maybe everyone should realize that maybe socialism isn't the way America should go...

He's a great speaker and he does raise some good points. However - See the guy to the right of Obama with the grey hair that stands up and claps every now and then? Anybody know who he is?
No, of course you don't...
That's Gary Hart, Council on Foreign Relations big man. After 9/11, he was the one that said they could use the attacks to push for a "new world order." Notice the only time you see him, besides the end, is after Obama spouts off about global warming? There's an agenda being pushed, folks, and it's not to the benefit of any of us, and certainly not the sovereignty of our country. Obama is CFR. Clinton is CFR. McCain and Romney are CFR. Two sides of the SAME COIN, people! Wake up! Go to Google Video and search for "carroll quigley cfr" and find out what the CFR has done to our "democratic" process.
You'll understand what is going on with our elections after you learn of the history and purpose of the CFR. Or maybe you won't, and you'll still vote for Obama. Go ahead. He'll come up with some excuse to not deviate from the path we're on right now, just as our current democratic congress bailed on impeaching Bush or taking us out of Iraq. Vote the rascals out....it won't make a bit of difference as long as another CFR member is in office.
The next step is finding out who the only non-CFR candidate is right now. Any idea who it is? It's Ron Paul.

You did a great job pulling together the highlights of this speech, and as a compilation of the most important points of this particular event, it's a successful pod.
I think you could have gone further with this, though, by incorporating pieces from different speeches, or by somehow showing whether his record and practices back up what he is saying.
Very few people would disagree with anything that he said standing at this podium, yet there are important policy differences between the presidential candidates, and that is what is important to get out to potential voters.

Without Edwards anymore, I think Obama's the best choice. I just hope that Edwards gets a chance at Vice President.

I agree with Obama, he is my homeboy! I like the way he states what he’s talking about in a way where he knows what he’s saying. In the video he has the crowds attention. I agree with what he has to say about how helping out the schools and teaching what is needed to be taught can help out the economy down the road. I agree with how he talked about generations and that by taking action in the schools can help out the generations to come.
