I guess John Edwards was just too far left for the corporate media to ever let him enter the "2 person race".

A great article, (although i found it on a game forum), from the New York times. Which states why within the next two elected terms of presidency, the stranglehold of American imperialism will be severely weakened.
Pretty conservative estimates. But who the fuck cares? I'm more worried about the ID cards, and global melting.

http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8Sorry, let me relate this to the topic. Since America is just a playground bully holding a bible, the other kids in the playground have been taking steroids. Can't push Asia around and get them to make you new Nikes, and Mardi Gras beads. anymore. (maybe)

Let me also state, the political choice in the US really is overwhelmingly "Democratic" . *Sarcasm*

I just heard that Ralph Nader is exploring entering the race.
http://www.naderexplore08.org/index.html?submittedHis main reason being that with John Edwards dropping out, there is no true advocate fighting against corporate influence. He's on NPR's "Day to Day" program this morning.
Without incessant pestering from the public, those anti-corporate stump speeches will leave us with little more than empty rhetoric.
I just wish that John Edwards could have stayed in the race to keep the public discourse focussed on this topic a little longer. Maybe if he does play kingmaker to Obama, then he can have some influence as Attorney General?

It wasn't just Edwards that was silenced, but also Kucinich and Ron Paul, or rather any candidate that called for corporate accountability.
Furthermore, 70% of Americans want to get out of Iraq now. Why don't US candidates represent that opinion?

Sad but true. With all the noise coming from the rightwing talk radio and coporate owned media silencing our most progressive candidates, this is what we get: the extremely scary right and the middle right. This depressing trend won't change until 2 things happen:
1) Reinstate the Fairness in Media Reporting Doctrine that Reagan did away with in the 80's. And related to it, pass strict laws prohibiting further media monopoly. They are too concentrated into a few hands as it is.
2) Public financed campaigns. Right now, we have corporate financed campaigns. Hillary is big Pharma's favorite girl. Obama is Big Banks' golden boy. No wonder their policies can't get left of center! And the Republicans? Wholly owned and incorporated by Big Oil, Defense Contractors, and all of the biggest corporations. Plus Televangelists.
We are doomed with lobbyist influenced elections until we can get corporate money out of our election system.
But having said that, I will not vote for Nader. It is thanks to Nader that we have 8 years of Bush - the worst presidency in the history of the world! Anybody who doubts that Gore's presidency would have been a lot better is doping up heavily. (Explains Rush Limpball)
Obama or Hillary, while very flawed in their own ways, will move this country forward in the direction needed - curbing global warming, affordable health care for all, green technology revolution, job creation, troops out of Iraq, restoring our constitution, etc... (I don't believe even Hillary dares not to restore the Constitution. The backlash will be too great. She is a smart political animal after all.)
Republicans? 4 more years of Bush.
No thanks. Not today. Not ever. The cancer of Bush-Republicanism must die in order for our nation to heal and move forward.
So as imperfect as they are: Obama/Clinton 08!

The Left, left with John Edwards. We didn't scream loud enough about the media black out. We will get exactly what we deserve. The media choice for us. Remember this when you vote, Clinton's husband is responsible for the destruction of the fairness in broadcasting, NAFTA, CAFTA, and GATT. You have no place to work and you can't even read about it in the newspaper.

I'm not in favor of Nader entering this race. And I'm not in favor of Al Gore stealing the show either. I think we are left with two competent candidates in Obama and Hilary. I only wish that with the public ready for massive change within the system, with the world looking to America as either friend or foe, we need a president that can take action and restore some our lost political capital.

This is a very good discussion, as to making a choice between the lesser of the two evils.

If only Al Gore would step in and steal the show, how lucky we would be.

good article, and so true. i've lived in 4 different countries on 3 continents and i've always thought it was so interesting how even the wealthiest citizens of other countries think our politics are obscenely conservative...while many working-class americans vote republican so they can have lower taxes....it's crazy! i wish americans could realize that we pay much lower taxes than any other 'first world' country and that lowering taxes isn't the only thing a politician can (or should) offer.
