I'm surprised and embarrassed to find myself an undecided voter.

  • I'd love to have a female president as well. But, for me, I just can't bring myself to vote for someone who is so uncritical in their support of the military-industrial complex and the use of war to advance U.S. foreign policy goals. Obama is no Dennis Kucinich, but at least he takes a somewhat more thoughtful, humane approach to the role the U.S. should play in the world.

Let's hope we have many more, better female choices for president in the coming years.

If the issues play into your decision at all, check out http://glassbooth.org and this pod.

  • I would love for you to vote for Ron Paul, but since you've classified yourself already, I don't see that happening.

what I can beg of you, is to NOT vote for Hillary simply because she is a woman. this whole "breaking the glass ceiling" deal is rubbish. it's not about gender, race, religion, age, height, weight, etc etc etc. it's about where a candidate stands on issues and that's all. dig down, go to the candidates websites, click on the issues button and truly read each and every issue statement. then decided which person you believe will most help/fix/save America from the sad state we're currently in.

ps - for me, a HUGE deal breaker for Clinton is that she's supporting garnishing the wages of people who don't get her mandated healthcare, regardless if they can afford or not. this is a nightmare. I don't want the Federal government stealing money from my paychecks because I don't want/can't afford to purchase healthcare.

    good luck deciding.
  • In my opinion, voting for someone based on a superficial trait such as sex, race, religion, title, etc. is a huge insult to one's own intelligence. If you asked me, I would tell you to vote for the person who most closely represents your stance on the issues. If this means crossing parties then do it.

Our political system has been a circus for the past 16 years. We need to stop voting on feelings and start taking responsibility for who [whom?] we vote for. We don't need another ring leader to continue us down this carnival road Bill Clinton and George W. Bush have drove us down.

Please, I know a female president would deliver a serious blow to the white, male power that is the current status quo. But honestly, Hillary is NOT the woman to do this. I ask you not to vote for Hillary, she knows the current system much too well to act honestly with the power she'd have. If you're going to vote democrat, vote Obama.

Alternatively, if you feel that neither Hillary or Obama do not represent you on the issues then please cross the road and check out Ron Paul. His ideas on the issues really stand out and are constitutionally legitimate.

  • Hillary was on "Letterman" last night. When Dave suggested a possible Clinton/Obama ticket (or, vice-versa), she seemed quite comfortable with the notion. No matter which one is the "Prez" nominee, it's the most amazing ticket in American history. That's how it's shaping up for Democrats..
As for the Republicans, I still think that Huckabee is their best candidate...in spite of Chuck Norris' involvement. There's a sincerity in his style that I find refreshing.
The rest of the major players in both parties sound redundantly tiresome and out of step. They have no new voice to contribute. Using "Change" as a selling tool is pointless. You come in after Bush Jr.? You're the change. It's a given.

  • If Hillary became vice president she'd do even more damage then if she was president because she could get away with more. Of course she's 'ok' with a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket but I hope the voters are not. Obama in the White House I could live with and some good may even come out of it but Hillary in the White House, again. Please, no. We need to keep the Clintons and the Bushs far, far away from leadership roles and power. The past 16 years make that obvious. We do not need more circus acts.

  • Pfestler? Why so anti-Clinton? Details, please.

  • I'm not so much anti-Clinton or anti-Bush, I would say I'm more anti-dishonesty. The lies and corruption that have emerged from the White House over the last 16 years have been depressing and dissappointing. We deserve better but only if we vote intelligently and not for superficial reasons (i.e. gender, religion, race).

The Clinton administration was given credit for the rebound in the economy when in actuality, recovery from the mild 1990 downturn had already started by mid-1991, but it had been too slow to convince the public that the country was on its way back to sustained economic growth. The Clinton administration knew this but they decided to claim the credit. More lies emerged with the Monica Lewinski scandal. Bill was having affairs left and right.

Plagarism, deceit, and disloyalty are NOT the characteristics of a worthy president and yet these traits embodied our precious Bill Clinton. Everyone knows birds of a feather flock together. Hillary wants to have it her way now. I just hope it doesn't come true. I think the risk involved by having her act as president is too great and outweighs the issue of the first female president.

George W. Bush is just as bad or worse in my opinion but I think we all know where he screwed up.

The worst of it is that we kept these 2 idiots in office for their max terms! WTF!? Why? Voters need to seriously open their eyes to the issues AND the character traits of who they are voting for.

    Please, people vote intelligently!

  • i agree i really want to vote for clinton but to me, her goals seem very unrealistic, while obama gives me the impression of taking a more realistic approach.

  • You have the rest of your life to vote for a woman president, there will be other candidates, Hillary is not the one.

  • Vote for Hillary! My god haven't we voted and put up with men's stuff long enough! Didn't your mother clean up after your father and your brothers. My god it's a no brainer! She'll clean up after Bush in record time. Another way to look at it. Please Obama is just a pretty face! Hillary has passion and once more a woman can multitask...she'll use BOTH sides of her brain!
    mzzim
  • Was that sarcasm, mzzim?

Hillary isn't a housewife, I doubt she'd "clean up" Bush's horrific mess "in record time".

As for Obama having a "pretty face", you can't be serious. Are you?

  • My sense is that, no matter whether it's a "Clinton/Obama" or "Obama/Clinton" ticket, they will be under such brutal scrutiny from every possible source that they'll have no "wiggle room" to do anything other than what's best for We, the people. You can't just take over from the worst leader in US history and pull any stunts that would make you look bad. That's just suicidal. Think of all the groups out there that will be watching their every move. All the Republicans waiting to pounce (some, obviously, not waiting) to feminists to the NAACP to religious factions to...etc. Endless scrutiny and criticism.
I feel confident in voting for this pairing.

  • Your vote is your vote. But I honestly want change for the better. This is why Ron Paul has my vote at this point.

Making a vote that is based on superficial arguments undermines the very integrity of our political system. Moreover, it dissolves away the hard earned dignity and global reputation of our people, especially when we elect idiots like George W. Bush and Bill Clinton!

Please, people vote intelligently. We need to change for the better, not continue down this inward spiral of arrogance and blind loyalty.

  • I voted for Hillary Clinton this morning...our next president. Why? She is passionate clearly spoken and she can multi task as most women can. It's time for a woman president.

All my life women were told they "can't" for one reason or another, only because men wanted to be in the limelight women were put on the back burner, or no burner at all. I've seen it all. As a woman I was taught to make a man look good. I was taught to lose so he can win! No more! And please women today..never take the back seat. This is why we need to unite.

But that aside, I firmly believe Hillary is the better choice. She speaks clearly and tell us her plans to provide decent affordable health care., etc., I watched the Nevada debates and it was clear that Obama did not have a handle on the senate voting process. He voted present because he didn't like something in a bill, when he should have voted yes or no on the bill. Then later it was revealed that Hillary and Edwards voted yes on a charge card interest ceilling of 30% where Obama voted no because it was too high. Then Edwards explained well you just gave the credit card companies the green light to charge even higher than 30% already. And that evening too. Obama listed his weakness as not be able to find papers on his desk. He is clearly not presidential material in my opinion.

Hillary has her stuff together. Her weakness was impatience. She wants to get in there and clean up this mess. She wants to make your life better. She wants to rise up the middle class back to where they can afford to live again on their salaries and be able to save money.

I think people are bitter and Bush made us that way. People can't even imagine that Hillary can be a concerned and decent president. We are not voting for Bill Clinton here. He has taken the back seat. He is done. He will be an ambassador and that's it. He won't be vice-president. Obama will fill that seat.

  • I certainly understand why you are undecided. I'm having the same problem. I flip back and forth from day to day and sometimes hour to hour. The ones I wanted to vote for either did not run or have dropped out. Our primary isn't until the 19th of this month. Maybe I'll decide by then. I'm fairly sure I'll vote democratic and that has been my only decision so far.

  • Now that John Kerry is backing Obama there may be a chance that, if Barrack is chosen he may not ask Hillary to be his VP. If this happens, I'll wonder why Obama ran in the first place. I still can't shake this sense that his chief function was to split the Democratic Party enough to insure Hillary's defeat and, effectively, shut her out.
The fact that he caught on was a fluke. A side-effect.
Call me suspicious, paranoid or crazy. I can live with that.
There's always more to the story than meets the eye.

  • It's especially difficult for me as I am a woman and I'm black. Which side should take over? At this point, I've decided neither. I've carefully looked at all candidates...even on the Republican side to find out who can lead this country and fix up the mess that has been made. After much research, my vote goes to Obama. I like Obama's policies and I feel like he is, dare I say, change. Uh, I'm tired of that word too! But to have a Clinton in the White House is retrograde for me. It's nothing to be embarrassed about as we're all ready to do something that just a few decades ago, wouldn't seem possible. But it is time to think with our heads rather than that paining feeling in our gut. It's time to use smarts if we want to clean house!

  • some people say Hillary is unrealistic asking for too much. You have to ask for more than what you want..so you get the things you want. She Hillary knows how to work Congress. Whereas I fear Obama doesn't. Did you watch the Nevada debates? I did. And it was clear to me that he did not know how to vote his thoughts and wishes. I don't want him signing off on bills then.

He voted presnet 100 times in the Senate when he should have voted yes or no. He said he didn't like something in the bill and Edwards then told him. Well, if you don't you vote no.

Again it was pointed out during the Nevada debate that he didn't know how to vote. Hillary and Edwards voted yes on a credit card ceiling cap of 30%. Although high, at least it was a ceiling. See you don't get it always the way you want it so you have to compromise. Well, Obama thought the ceiling was too high and voted no. And once again got a lesson from Edwards who said. By you voting no against the bbill you gave the credit card companies to charge even higher than 30% interest. See what I mean? I'm glad I voted for HIllary this morning. Not don't tell me I'm voting for her just because she is a woman. I voted for her because she knows what she is doing.

She said her weakness was being impatience, while Obama said he weakness was losing papers on his desk. That he asks his staff to bring him papers to sign at the last minute. Yes, he said this himself. I watched the Nevada debate on CNN.

  • mzzim I need to ask you to take your sexist drivel elsewhere. having a vagina does not mean you are the best candidate, get real.

and Hillary Clinton is the worst candidate running in my opinion. you think she'll stand up for the midde class? are you kidding me? she's bought and sold. she's made more than $800,000 from lobbyists, more than ANY other candidate. and then she talks about fighting the lobbyists? and of course her healthcare plan sounds good, she says "I'll make sure every American has healthcare!" well maybe that's because she wants healthcare mandated and if you don't purchase healthcare, the Federal government could garnish your wages! yes, that's right. if you can't afford or do not want to purchase healthcare, Clinton's idea is to steal money from YOUR paycheck. that sounds like a crook, not a leader. it's time to realize that most of these politicians are so ingrained in the system it's their lifeblood. what do they know about struggle? what do they know about the middle class? and lastly, your point on the credit card companies, come on. it's not the function of government to control business, we're not socialists here. you should spend some time reading the constitution, it would probably open your eyes. we don't need a welfare state, we don't need a trillion dollar entitlement system, a nanny government telling you what to eat, what to buy, where to buy, how to spend your money, etc. and we DAMN WELL do not need a President taking lobbyist money left and right. say NO to Hillary Clinton.
  • Alright Rebecca, you've got to tell us how you voted! You created the suspense, so where's the pay off?

  • I don't think Rebecca was to telling us to tell her how she should vote. She said tell us what you think. I am sure Rebecca voted with her heart

  • Well, it was a good piece, it made me curious how she decided to vote - not that it's any of my business.

  • I hope she voted with her brain and not her heart.

    Vote intelligently, people.
