    • I simply do not agree with black history month.

I'm not saying that black history should not be included in curriculum. I can appreciate how it came about I just think that they could simply tie black history in with american and world history.

I think black history month is just lingering segregation.

    • This was really nice! I have always heard about how black history month was started, but was never really quite sure. I love the way this moved taking us from the beginning, where it was first denied, then taking us all the way to this day. I like how it showed it was no easy tasks for blacks for the next 3 decades, while trying to get the recogonizition they felt they deserved. Some may not know how hard it was to get a week! I also love the music. It helped the piece move really well. Why February?, How did we go from a week to a month? All really good info! I wish it was longer!!!

    • Hey Anthony - thanks for sharing this - can't wait to pass it around BAVC. Have you seen Nick Parker and Jazmin Jones' film THE APOLLOS? Its a short doc about a group of Oakland Tech students who got Martin Luther King Jr. day officially recognized in California. It's their first film, and its fantastic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVxRXI2WgHU
