Obama Girl didn't vote

According to NY Times’ City Room Blog, Amber Lee Ettinger - aka The Obama Girl, aka That Girl Who’s Been Showing Up All Over The Place In Her Undies Telling The World To Vote For Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama - did not even bother to personally cast a vote for the candidate in whose name she found widespread Internet fame. Let that sink in. THE OBAMA GIRL DIDN’T EVEN VOTE FOR OBAMA (or anyone else for that matter).

Way to go!

  • Somehow I feel this makes a powerful statement about everything that's wrong with American voters.

  • Gosh Scott, I totally disagree. Obama carried 14 states and mostly white.

    Get it right brother....

  • She didn't vote...along with the rest of my age group. So glad my grandparents get to decide what direction this country should be going.

  • Hummm, I seem to remember Paris Hilton doing the same thing after she did a photo shoot for Mr. P-diddys "Vote or Die" campaign.

  • Scott_Bromley, what are you implying? What's supposed to sink in?

How does a bombshell brunette's decision to vote or not to vote reflect on any?

Please explain, I'm a little dense.

  • What's the implication police implying? He's saying it's weird that someone who campaigned for a candidate didn't vote at all, and that's weird/apathetic/hypocritical. That's all.

  • I'll explain:

It means actions speak louder than words.
It means if a young African American girl doesn't vote for an African American candidate or a woman, then she is useless.
It means that you should make up your own mind, not listen to a poser in panties.
And finally it means that -in the end - it is all meaningless.

Oh and bluepolo21, you are kidding yourself if you think Obama's small state victories mean anything. it's not about states, it's about delegates, and Obama came out a loser on Super Tuesday.

  • I agree it's a little hypocritical, but are we really going to go on witchunt about this? How about we redirect our Music Video Outrage Lazers back to Karl Rove's absurdly racists rap song and dance.?

Her contributions to mobilize votes and bring Obama into the maistream can't go unrecognized. She should have voted yes, but think about how many young people she's helped make actually even THINK about becoming politically active who never were before.

And I don't think it's fair to say Obama lost on Super Tuesday. Hillary barely clung onto an installed margin she's been working on for years. She only has support to lose, and Obama only has ground to gain.

  • Anyone know if Will.I.Am voted? That would be a double whammy if he didn't. This girl? Is anyone honestly surprised she didn't vote? Have you seen her in interviews??

  • Ah Joe,

I like Obama. He seems like he'd make a great President.

But I have to reiterate my opinion that he did in fact lose big time on Tuesday.

He had a lot of momentum going in to Super Tuesday, and he lost pretty much all of it.

If he would have won the majority of delegates, it would have made a strong case for a (new) mandate.
Obama won a bunch of insignificant states; Midwest states that have never mattered, and that never will

    - sorry but it's the truth!

Second, look at the states that have voted for Clinton: California, Florida, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Michigan

Plus, she's way in front in Virginia, Texas (10 points), Pennsylvania (20 points).

So, I hate to be the bearer of bad news ... but it's over. The sooner we get behind Hillary the better.

And if all these facts still aren't convincing enough, and you still think that "change" is in the air,

    here's the (brutal) bottom line:

He would never, ever, ever, ever win a head-to-head battle against John McCain, unless Hillary was on the ticket, too.

And I don't see that happening (although I really wish it would.).

  • The fact the videos were even made is sad. This is the level of politics we get in today's society. It's not only a statement about what is wrong with American voters, but with American candidates.

  • I think that if anyone is promoting a candidate should get up off their butts and go vote and if they didn't plan on voting then they shouldn't have promoted someone so heavily.

  • I'd think the "Obama Girl" has already helped more than her singular vote ever would.

  • She cashed in. It's the American way. The fact that she didn't vote is a moot point. Her influence is the key.
Anyone swayed to vote based on cheezy music videos will get another fool for a leader.
