New England manager Fabio Capello has launched his English managerial career to a 'textbook' start after the Italian's squad beat Switzerland two goals to one.
Capello had imposed much stricter rules on the players and had openly stated that he wasn't trying to be their 'friends,' much rather their manager in a successful team.
Fabio Capello's choice to leave Michael Owen out of the team furthered his 'non-sentimental' approach, and it's clear to see the differences in the way the players respond to the media now they know their places may not be as secure as they had once seemed.
Capello favoured the same approach when it came to choosing to use a 5-4-1 formation.
His formation choice may well have been a slow starter, and it may well attract criticism from die-hard 4-4-2 fans, but a win is a win, and an important factor in ensuring Capello's new regime is fully accepted by the players.
Jenas and Wright Phillips scored the goals, Jenas's being his first goal in eighteen international appearances.

Well done Capello, not a great game but its a good start. I think he has the wright attitude for the job, create distance from the players and make them work for their place in the team.
