According to the Guardian, a spokesperson for Gordon Brown has also "insisted British law must remain pre-eminent" but said went on to say that "concessions to sharia law could be made on a case-by-case basis."
Are the Archbishop's views unrealistic and what will these changes actually mean?

His comments are certainly getting a lot of criticism.
David Blunkett, the former Home Secretary, said Rowan Williams' views were "very dangerous", adding that people must not be excluded from the law because of their culture or faith.
Shaista Gohir, a government adviser on Muslim women and director of Muslim Voice UK, said she did not believe there was a need for Sharia courts because "the majority of Muslims do not want it".
As an aside, Rowan Williams has incredible eyebrows.
