Doggie U K9 Academy is a dog training facility that among a multitude of other things, teaches dog agility. I produced a short piece about dog agility with the assistance of Doggie U for my MFA Documentary class.

Great pod, I really appreciated how you took a fairly obscure subject and put both faces and a story to it. The characters were interesting, and the cinematography quite well executed. My concern is that your pod has more potential than you've squeezed out of it so far.
The characters are given a few seconds of screen time to establish their name and their attachment to the pod, but not enough to really build a bond with the viewer. Their stories seem to be headed in a more emotional direction, but seem to stop at a simple justification for their involvement. You might be able to increase the connection by cutting back on the montages of competition and creating a stronger narrative, perhaps focusing on a particular competition that a dog is preparing for or a tough moment in one of the trainer's careers.
You've got a great subject here, and if you find a way to connect with the audience on a deeper level I'm sure you'll find it picked up in no time. -
Wow. I had definitely never heard of this before, so on that level, this pod was really interesting, and visually, it was really cool to see the dogs weave in and out and run all around. I definitely enjoyed it!
I do think that it would have been more effective if the information had come from interviews instead of having all of the voice over. You sort of touched on the subjects of the interviews, but it felt like you might have been able to have a little bit more of a story there.
But overall, I loved being able to watch these talented dogs perform.-

Hi there. I think I agree with the previous two posts about the amount of talking head screen time. The piece starts out with a nice VO, which is kind of tongue in cheek, reminded me a bit of best in show. pretty funny. anyway, you could continue the humor by showing more of the subjects and making VO commentary about them and their dogs, and it might end up more engaging. Good work.

This is a very good topic and holds a lot of possibility for emotional impact. As it stands now, I feel like its more of a really long commercial for Doggie U K9 Academy than a Pod. If you were to follow a few of the dogs and their owners while focusing on their relationship and how it is aided by agility training, that I think would be an amazing study to do through a pod. I think its an awesome start, but digging deeper would prove more valuable.

Good background info about the sport and definitely an interesting subject to explore. However, I'm not a fan of the voiceover. The v.o. in the beginning is overly dramatic and you're pretty much narrating what we are seeing on screen, and it might be better to just let the images speak for themselves. I'd also like to hear more from the handlers and get to know those characters. Not a bad start, but there's more to explore.
