I think campaigns in general reveal prejudice. I think the surprising thing to many Mormons is that Romney's campaign revealed that even the conservative right seemed to reject Romney's religion. Utah Mormons have always supported the most conservative nominee in the race, regardless of the candidate's religion. The fact that they did not get the same kind of love when a candidate of their faith ran for the presidency really hurt them. It will be interesting to see what kind of support McCain ends up getting in Utah. My guess is that if he were to win the Presidency he would be a lot less popular than President Bush, simply because of the Romney fallout.
